I'm glad this isn't my town. We have people here that plant veggies in their front yard - not as much as this woman. Her's is fantastic!

Posted - Aug 28 2010 : 2:22:07 PM Sigh. I detest the way things are running in this country now. Unless the house is part of an HOA or the city actually owns that lot, it shouldn't be anybody's business. Yet another reason I just want to hole up in the middle of nowhere away from people.

Posted - Aug 27 2010 : 3:56:15 PM Yep, that's just crazy. But then some people just are. I ride by people's huge manicured lawns and think that'd be a great place for cows or goats or sheep. Goodness, just think all the $ they'd save on gas to fill up those tractors and all the time they'd save too. they might have time to spend with their family. Oh wait. They probably have yard people to do it for them.
My DD and her fiance plowed up their front yard on both sides to put in gardens. You wouldn't believe some of the strange looks they got.
I sure hope all those signatures mean something and will help them.

Posted - Aug 27 2010 : 2:10:04 PM Northbrook is a very expensive, yuppie area. They are very status conscious there. This lady's yard looks well kept and tended to me, but probably not up to their standards.

Posted - Aug 26 2010 : 5:30:52 PM Wow! How ridiculous is that! That anyone would "complain" that someone was making good use of their land is ludicrous (nice spelling- guess I cant spell when I am angry!) I actually have a raised bed vegetable garden in my front yard this year (small garden but still....) and let me tell you I have BIG plans for next year!![](icons/icon_smile.gif) My neighbors have no complaints- in fact they call me and say "Mary Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow?" Hee Hee Hee. I do share the wealth with them, and I could NOT imagine anyone having a problem with this. If you ask me it makes perfect sense! Grass is just an added chore- and gives you nothing back in return! Very interesting! Thanks for posting! Smiles, Laurie Farmgirl Sister#1403

Posted - Aug 26 2010 : 5:11:52 PM We should all have more vegetable gardens in the front yard!! I wish that I could sign that petition.

Posted - Aug 26 2010 : 1:31:12 PM Typical government hog wash, trying to shut her down! Unlike my usual garden, this looks like she's taking very good care of it and not letting it go to weeds. Hope they can get the village to back off.
