I have been thinking about doing a booth for quite awhile and as of this weekend was approached by a friend who is going to open a antique mall in Sept. I need advice from you lovely ladies. Have you ever had one and if so what type of experience did you have? What do you like to see in them? Have you had to lock smaller items in a glass case?
I would love any and all advice. I would like to hear from those who shop at antique malls and those who have booths. Thanks in advance for your post! Blessings,Karen

Karen, I wish you the very best with your booth.
I would bet anyone who loves vintage would love to have a little baby bed.
And a creative decorator could put the potty chair to good use!

yes Violet, it would take alot of organization and I'm not sure I would be able to keep up with all that, but I do hope to keep things rotated out so its something new each time. I found a vintage baby bed for $5.00 I plan to resale and I already had a vintage baby potty chair. I dont know how much of a demand there is for these items but I hope they will be a good buy for someone. I will have to practice up on my pic skills I dont remember how to load them on Mjs but I will do my best. Thanks for all your encouragement. Blessings,Karen

I think to change the booth color every month would take a lot of organization with the storage.
But it sounds like fun if you have the time.

I will be sure to Audrey, they are suppose to have it ready on Sept 15 to let the venders in to set up. So I will keep you updated from then.

Keep us posted about your booth Karen. My friend and I love going to these type of places and I've often wondered if I have enough "stuff" to start one of my own spaces. I'll be interested in how yours works out.

Dang it...I always think of something else to say after I hit the "submit" button.....I saw this booth space once that was wonderful.I don't know how the vendor did it, but she changed the color scheme every month. One month everything (and I mean everything!) was all one color...one month it was all blue, one month it was all red, one month it was all pink...you get the picture....It was striking...she must have had alot of stuff at home to be able to do this...

The above posters have excellent advise about a booth.
I love to shop the antique malls. Before my husband started creating jewelry I had a booth and loved it.
I agree with all the wonderful advice above. I would just add that for myself, my booth was about a thirty minute drive from home. In the oppisite direction of the town where we took care of all our other business.
so, I only got over to my booth every couple of weeks or so. In that amount of time without me tending to it more often, things always became untidy, items weren't placed back where I had them, and one of my items looked like it had been stepped on.
My advice: go at least weekly to tend to it.
I think it's so much fun to collect things for a booth and fix it, just didn't work for me at the time.
Sometimes now, I think my house looks like a booth! LOL

Oh, and when I had lots of pins to sell, I took and old plain fuzzy sweater and fastened them all to it...everywhere. It was very eyecatching, hanging there.

Oh thanks girls, it will be a 10x10 and he said I would have room to stick stuff out too. I will have to remember the glade idea, and I like the idea of the mirror. I will make sure I find me a case to keep the little items locked up. I have had several people tell me they didn't make any money. I had one once.. It was a good experience and I actually made quite a bit of money. You didn't say how big of a space you were getting but I made mine look like an antique shop all by itself and put as much stuff as I could fit into it without it looking "gawdy". I rotated my inventory alot to keep it looking fresh and absolutely locked up the small stuff. I put a Glade air freshener hidden on the top shelf, so if people saw something they liked but didn't pick it up the first time through, they could find it by following their noses....I'm serious, that actually worked. If you sell earrings and necklaces, fasten a hand mirror to your space so people can see what they look like in your offerings. Hope you have fun with it...I did.

My mom & I had one for awhile here in Pella & yes I would lock small items in a case. It seems there are those who think that small stuff is theres & put it in their pockets! Othere thatn that we had a good experience with it! The owner has since sold it due to age & we no longer have a booth.
