Posted - Aug 21 2010 : 08:11:34 AM Oh thank you! I like this background alot. So much more subdued and very easy on the eyes. I can turn my screen back up level now. This is good, Gabe. And I like also how every other one is beige and then white. That's nice. You have been a busy farmguy lately with all these changes. Very good.

Posted - Aug 21 2010 : 08:07:42 AM Oooo I like the two tone better!!! The other brighter background was hard on my eyes. I couldn't handle staying on the site for long periods of time. Now I'll have to stay the day and catch up. LOL
Thanks Gabe! It looks great!

Posted - Aug 21 2010 : 06:25:44 AM Gabe, the two tone does break the page up a bit, white/off-white. I'm kinda glad you can't work the lime in more. It's another flourescent color. I've just always had a harder time with really bright. But the page is better. THanks

Posted - Aug 20 2010 : 3:55:40 PM Since you're asking, I think the background is a bit harsh. I like the teal and red though. Not so much of that going on as the bright background. Are we all seeing the same thing though?

Posted - Aug 20 2010 : 3:47:52 PM Thank you.
I think we've got a winner now, though. Denali and I played around with a few other color schemes, and I just need to run them by MaryJane to see if she might like them. Some of them were getting closer to the previous chatroom colors, interestingly enough. So we might find a happy middle ground.
I'll hold off a bit on doing revisions to the chatroom's current state, other than to darken the grays some more. |

Posted - Aug 20 2010 : 2:15:41 PM I'll try stepping down the white and each gray a notch or two. We'll see how that works for the moment.
If not, then I'll try some muted yellows/off-whites. A certain greenish yellow is supposed to be part of the color scheme (you can see it in the borders), but I hadn't managed to make it work well as a more prominent color. I could keep working with the background and see if something like that will work behind the text.
My usual problem personally when I do this is that I always want to pick colors for the backdrop that are then too dark and hard to see the text on. Apparently I overcompensated this time! ;)

Posted - Aug 20 2010 : 08:31:11 AM Gabe For me it's all of the text areas, like looking into a light. I know my eyesight is "mature" but it just hurts. My husband has done web design for quite some time and his rule is that of decorating that brightness tends to make people edgy and not want to stay long. Text should be backed by a calming color. Thanks for asking Kathy |

Posted - Aug 20 2010 : 06:10:47 AM Gabe, For me it is the brighter teal. The darker really did help and my eyes aren't objecting too much to that. Thanks for that by the way. I'm thrilled with the less red and if I keep all the pages checked they remain teal so I don't have as much red on my page. As CJ said, it maybe a combination of the white background with the flourecsent colors. Once in a discussion it is not as harsh and I am finding that the BF's IBM is not as bad as my MAC. I'll have to try adjusting my screen again too.
Thanks for all your hard work and for listening to us.

Posted - Aug 19 2010 : 7:54:47 PM Gabe, I like the change . . . and it doesn't really bother me. But, my thought is that the white background sections MAY be too harsh.

Posted - Aug 19 2010 : 7:44:47 PM Which pieces are too bright, nut4fabric, SheilaC, Montrose Girl, et al? Is it the lighter teal/cyan heading color? Is the darker teal fine?
Or is it the white/light grey of the topic text areas themselves? Should they be darkened, so you're not looking at white?
Or do you think it's the combo of the teal/white?
I'll try to get this new color scheme adjusted so it isn't so hard on anybody's eyes. |

Posted - Aug 18 2010 : 5:37:55 PM I'm not really a complainey person, but it does bother my eyes or make it feel like I'm looking up at a light. I sure won't be able to read on here much either. Oh well. |
