Yesterday was a good day! After four months of waiting and calling and filling out endless paperwork, I finally managed to get my money from the retirement account my former job didin't want to give me. So we paid off our farm!!! And my car!!! And my Visa bill!!! This will really make things easier for my dh. We've been squeaking by on only one paycheck since I quit in March. Then, on our way to the farm to water(haven't had rain since I don't remember when), a big white pitbull/bulldog crossed the road right in front of me. The chain behind him just kept on crossing the road after him. Must have been 20 feet long. He got in the car with us and we took him along. Luckily, he had a tag with a vet's name and they called his owner. He had eyes like Paul Newman. Never seen such pale blue eyes. He was so sweet. When the guys got there to pick him up, they told us that they had chained him to a tree near some building materials on their land to deter thieves. Grrr. Don't get me started about people who do that sort of thing. He was such a sweet dog. Don't think he got much love. But he didn't die yesterday. That chain could have caused him to get strangled. So yesterday was a good day.

Hi Janice,
Isn't that the best feeling ever!!! Congratulations, and may the Lord keep many more blessings like this one coming your way. By the way, I too have a pit bull and get really upset when people have them for the wrong reasons. Mine is a sweetie

Where I come from when you say, "We bought the farm" it means that you died. So happy to see that that isn't the case...lol. My dear hubby and I are so close to paying off our farm we can actually see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel! Just hope it ain't an oncoming train...congrats on your good fortune, sounds like it took alot of time and willpower to get there.

Janice, that really WAS a great day!!!! Congratulations on getting that money and paying off those monumental things! Such a wonderful feeling!!! And, I hope David, in his infinite wisdom, told those goofballs a thing or two about chaining a dog up for "protection". Poor little guy--people never fail to disappoint me when it comes to animals. We had a great couple of days in your neck of the woods on Friday, Saturday...sent you a little email--thought about you both a lot!

Lisa - you're welcome to pick what's left of my/our brains any time. This heat has just about fried any/all brains we had. We've pretty much decided the daylilies are a total loss. Bummer. Just burned totally up. But the house is looking better. Come on down any time! Justin wants to see it while the old part is still in it's 'old' state. He's got plenty of time! LOL! And we sure loved having Jonni and Violet. The waitress at the Green Valley Restaurant still asks where they are. :)
