Am I the only one on earth who loves crispy bed sheets? There's just something so wonderfully comforting to me when I slip into bed and hear that zip sound as my feet slide across them and the crunchy sound my head makes as it hits the pillow.
But, I've discovered while searching out a new set of bed sheets this week that I must be an oddball or something because NO ONE sells crispy sheets anymore. I'm not talking about scratchy sheets now. I'm talking about sheets that would make that snapping sound when blowing in the wind on the line. But now all they sell in the store are "sateen" sheets. And every set I've gotten I've hated. They are really flimsy to me and don't have any of those wonderful sounds that regular sheets make. Sure, they're super soft, but they also lose shape and are just yucky. Maybe I'm just weird, but I learned that, for me, I need to steer clear of anything that says sateen. And that's hard to do. Everything is sateen now. I did find a nice, crispy, yet wonderfully soft set of Martha Stewart sheets today at Macy's. I can't wait to slip into them tonight and hear that "zip" and "crunch"!!! LOL....

Siobhan, I got a set of sheets about 10 years ago from an outlet mall in Dalton. I still have these sheets. I line dry them every time. I love crispy sheets too. And towels. So this past winter I thought they were looking like I might need to buy another set. So I went on a search for some nice crispy thick sheets. I thought I might find some at Target. But no. I felt them all and they just weren't going to cut it for me. So went to K-Mart and found the perfect sheets. I think they were Jaclyn Smith. But I LOVE them! And they are white. And they get clean and crispy every time I wash them. And they feel so wonderful after I have taken them off the line and put them all fresh on the bed. And they don't bunch all up either. So you might try K-Mart.

I love crispy sheets! I love the way it feels after a long day and you just plop your head down on the pillow...

You have GOT to try MaryJane's sheets! They are nice and crisp- incredibly durable, organic and so nice! I love them!!

I recommend the Shabby Chic line sheets at Target. They rock...and are cool, comfortable and oh so "snappy". They have lovely prints, though if your man isn't in to florals...well...
My mother would spend hours ironing these sheets, if that tells you anything about the purity of the cotton. I have 3 sets, and they get better each and every time I wash them.

You have described the 100% cotton sheets that are the only thing I'll use too. The best place to get them is The Vermont Country Store and they have mail order. They carry the Winsutta and they are heavy, crisp cotton. LL Beans also carries wonderful cotton sheets and they have mail order also. Though they're a bit higher priced, they're worth every penny!! I have sets from both Vermont Country Store and LL Bean that I have had for 15-20 years and they are still crisp and show no wear!! Amazing! Their cotton flannel sheets for winter are the same quality! Love them!

YES! The sateen is also slightly shiny. Another thing I don't like about them. ICK! We've had our last set for about two months and they are all pilled up and stretched out in places. They really are awful. And they were supposed to be something like 700 thread count. Thread count is worthless when they're sateen. The Martha ones I just got are 300 thread count and I can already tell they are going to be amazing! They are on sale at Macy's right now too.

I'm with you Siobhan! I love crisp sheets too. We made the mistake of buying some sateen ones last year and I hate them! They feel slimy to me and hot! Something about the crispness always made me cooler in the summer. Give me a crisp cotton sheet just off from drying on the line. Heaven!

Haha! I know exactly what you mean. We recently bought a new bed, and got it in the house and realized we didn't have sheets to fit it! So in a last ditch effort I ran to Walmart (the only thing open at this point) and bought what should have been the best ones they had. Yuck! They were shimmery, shiny, and satiny. We've had them about a month now, and already they look like garbage.
You'll have to let us know how the Martha ones are. I long for cool, crisp bed sheets too!
