It has been a LONG while since I have been on the Connection. After a year of hubby not being able to find a job, DH and I are packin up and movin to a rental house that is owned by my parents (about 50 miles from where we live now) - so we are able to live rent free and to help out on what we can for the utilities. One goal is to save enough to eventually build a small house on the land.

I am looking forward to it, but feel a bit nervous with the HUGE adjustments that are ahead. Part of it is trying to sell some things and give away a lot of other stuff.

On a somewhat positive note, hubby may be able to get a job down there, and it looks good thus far but no gaurantees (of course). After he gets something, then I hope to find something to so I can make the transition away from my Columbus job.

So any positive thoughts, prayers, etc would be great. Also any tips that I need to know from going from the city back to the country would be great too :)

Good luck to you and hubby
My hubby and I just moved into our new farmhouse we built on our small farm about a year ago now.
We haven't sold our house in the city yet!
Things are tight;
But, I love being back in the country on the small farm as I grew up a farm girl, and in the country
I had to get rid of alot of my beloved books, material . crafts etc
Got rid of more this past spring and planning on do some more deweeding
At first it was so hard to let go of the things.
But, I thought why am I hanging on to this stuff and never using it and it just piles up and causing crap with hubby
so, out a lot went
Oh, he is still fussing ! Can't please the man
He would like it if I quit everything and got rid of every thing.
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN !! lol
I do love him ; but sometimes he can be and " Old Fart" as they say . lol hugs sheila

Well....still not all down there yet. We have been moving bits and pieces the past couple of weeks. The BIG part of it is this weekend tho and the last bit next Saturday. After we are moved in, we have LOTS of little items that need done in the house and painting the really dark blue kitchen is first on the list after cleaning. More to come :)

I am really looking forward to my aunt having a bonfire over at her house next weekend, so that will be nice.

Well, today went down to visit my parents and got to see my sister. Helped out in the garden and while doing that, getting some ideas to do my own when we do move down :) I ended up coming home with three bags of produce, mostly tomatos. The dehydrator is currently working to make some dried tomato snacks...yummmm!

It is actually east of Lancaster, a town called Junction City. Literally smack dab in between 2 state routes, 668 and 37.

Amy...which direction are you moving? I live in SE Ohio. I came here for a visit in 1975 and have never left. Getting back to the country and reconnecting to the land was the best thing I ever did! Just take it slow and learn as you go by reading and asking questions and never be afraid to try anything new.

I'm so excited for you!

remember the sounds of the country, and remember the lack of sounds in the country...I am happy that you are going back to the country, and that your parents are able to help you. I will keep you in my prayers that everything works out for you and yours.
