...who woulda thought, but apparently just up the road we just had about 840,000 gallons of oil spilled into a creek that will eventually seep into the Kalamazoo River. Which means that soon my nice little creek out front will be full of oil and dead wild life. What is wrong with these oil companies?!?! It just makes me so mad! How do these things keep happening? I didn't even know it was possible for oil to get into our rivers here. I guess the piplelines run under the river or something? Oiy!

How terrible. I actually heard about this on the news. It's very alarming to hear about the different spills. I feel so bad about innocent families and all the animals and wildlife that are affected by this.

Wow! That is crazy, and in the middle of Michigan too! Your community will be in my prayers!

One of the biggest issues we're running into here that is much different than the gulf spill is that this spill happened in the middle of people's homes. You can smell fumes for miles around and in some places it's so bad that entire communities have been evacuated to hotels. All of the hotels over here by my house are completely booked. I still can't believe this happened here either. It's really awful and I don't think it's going to be a quick fix. There are people volunteering to save as many animals as they can, but there's just so much of a mess. I guess the early estimate of 840,000 gallons was not correct and they're now estimating the spill at more of around 1.2 million gallons! Just keep our community in your prayers. Life is not easy here in Michigan as it is and things like this definitely don't make life easier.

Siobhan-
I hope that everything works out and that you are not impacted too badly by this spill. It is very sad indeed.
Best wishes..

Siobhan, I saw this online last night. How terrible! And in the middle of a beautiful state, at that. Not that the Southern states affected by the BP oil spill aren't beautiful, but you'd think that if you lived near no oceans that'd you be safe.

Siobhan, I hope they can get it all cleaned up before it reaches you. That's so sad.

Did you hear about the huge oil spill in China??? Well, it is easy to see that man is ruining the earth on a larger scale than ever before. When, will they own up that they can't direct their own steps! It makes me think of what the Bible says at Matthew 24:21,22 and Jerimiah 10:23. Food for thought, indeed!!

What a waste of oil and natural resources. It is too bad we have become so dependent on oil.
