The city I live in has an outside company track peeps down with resale permit #'s. Well they started on me last Dec and even tho I have cooperated fully and sent the city 2 checks for the "home occupation permit" fees,the city has not cashed either one and now this company called "Muni Services" is sending me a threatening letter monthly wanting more & more info. I have answered every one of their letters in the time they give me (answer in 10 days,5 days,etc) In the last letter I sent them a photocopy of the check & application I sent to my cities biz dept and what info I had on my "gross receipts" when I file with the state of CA every Jan. I have contacted the BOE to find out what I told them for '07 & '08 but have heard nothing and that was over 10 days ago. Now Muni is threatening this vague thing about "I'm aquiring additional fine fees" even tho I have told them I was waiting on additional info. I've never even received word that I'm being fined at all. The topper: Muni Services has an F rating with the BBB. This is why I haven't been on the forum as between work,biz, & this it's been eating up a lot of my physical & mental time. This morning I'm calling BOE to see if I can get the info needed,but I don't trust this Muni Company & wonder if they have any real authority to hand out fines,etc. Your thoughts & prayers would be most appreciated on this.

Alee-FTC is who? Called Muni Services this morning after getting the info I needed from the BOE. Hoping they leave me alone now-I made sure I took the girls name I spoke with and let her know I'm not appreciating all this hassle for a mere permit that "allows" me to run an internet biz from my house. According to her now that I provided info on my gross receipts I filed with BOE for '07 & '08,they're going to leave me alone & tell the biz dept of Gardena they done with the inquisition. I'm betting Gardena has just been hanging on to my check waiting till they got what they wanted. Bet I'd been treated a lot better if I had a wad of $$ and wanted to open a sleazy casino. Sheesh.

yeah, I would go in person to your city hall with all your photocopies & tell them about the harassment. I would type up everything into a timeline (make a copy for yourself) to they can see it all in summary form. I hope you can get this all sorted out. what a pain

Sherrie- You need to report this to the FTC! This is ridiculous! The FTC takes a VERY dim view of things like this. They can be extremely strong advocates. I would also contact your states Small Business Administration because they can really help you out here too! Good luck!
