I just have to share with you my new discovery. Last night while shopping with the dh we wandered in the magazine section of Wally-world and I found a new magazine, "Junk Market Style". I glanced through it and saw several things of interest so I threw it in the cart. Fast forward to this morning, remembered that I had bought it and started looking through it. First, you have to start on page one and just read through it. Grabbed some handy post it notes and started sticking them on to the projects that I thought I'd like to try. By the time I was halfway through it, it was literally plastered with post its. Sue and Ki really know their stuff. The projects have wonderful step by step instructions. I am a big fan of flea markets and garage sales. If you are too you should definately check this out. Sue and Ki's web page is www.junkmarketstyle.com

Found the magazine yesterday at the local supermarket on the bottom shelf of the magazine rack. Just love it, love the kitchen they feature in there - I think it is Sue's home. Love all the stuff.

Here's my little part of the world when it comes to Junk Market Style. I found the magazine at our local Lowe's while purchasing much needed light bulbs for our office. The woman in line in front of me was looking at the magazine. She too purchased the magazine. It has sold out everywhere in our area. On Monday I decided to find the magazine online and subscribe. While searching for it online I found Mary Jane's Farm. Now I'm a member of the forum! Whooo Hooo, finding other women I can so relate to.

I was so disappointed I could not get a subscription. This disappointment lead me to shoot and email to Sue and Ki. I really didn't expect a response, to my surprise I received a answer from Sue. Sue told me it was the publisher's decision to not put the magazine out for subscription. The publisher is Meredith Corporation and their website is:

http://www.meredith.com

The person to contact is Patrick Taylor. Email address is patrick.taylor@meredith.com

I hope you will join me in writing them an email encouraging them to place the magazine on subscription. My busy schedule means I have to put another trip to find the mag.

At the ranch I now have to decorate a very old Mobile Home with a very limited budget. I've always loved older things and antiques. So Junk Market is my insperation. Decorate with little money. Groesbeck, Texas is a very small town and a wonderful place to start my search, then of course there are the various trade days in Texas to continue my search. This past weekend we hit a yard sale from a old home circa early 1900's being redone. They had old windows for sale. Bought three for two dollars a piece and there are my picture frames. I plan to use them for the farm office once built to display pictures of our Santa Gertrudis. Until then they will be in the mobile home.

Just bought the magazine at Publix today! I'm so in love! It's exactly how I love to decorate and suits me to a T!!! :) Thanks for the headsup! (I've still not found MJF anywhere, but I haven't been to the mall area for quite some time....now that summer break is upon us, I'm sure I'll be down to one soon.)

Yes, I found the magazine at Joann's. Thank goodness, with gas prices being the way they are...
But, I finally got it and skimmed through all the wonderful ideas and projects.
I guess the next one is out in August, can't wait!

miz sue ... i have actually been talking with three other gurlfrenz about 'a book' .. they are all very talented and creative .. ha! i'm the 'talker/storyteller' of the group .. jus' have to 'keep it clean'. i'm constantly asked to write articles for events and such that are happening in town .. but i tell the gurlfrenz that someone would have to edit it and take out all the 'salty and peppery' language that sometimes just slips through my lips! friend pamela got the last copy of the mag at our local wally-world .. and while she took a turn driving on our grande adventure on monday .. i skimmed through it .. gotta' get me one of them! might hit a bigger town (elizabethtown) .. and hopefully find a copy .. if not .. well 'hell's bells' .. i'll just steal pamela's!! xo

Like you, I spied the magazine & snatched it up -- I really like it. I had already made the stationery/writing center out of an old wire bird cage (it was in Country Home, I think), and it wasn't hard at all. In fact, it took just a bit of time. And btw, their tip elsewhere about putting a tablet for cleaning dentures in glass containers to clean them? Well, it worked great on getting the lime deposits that were absolutely caked on the glass water or food tray in the cage. It's clean as new now and holds a roll of stamps.

They spotlighted (smallish article on the right hand side of one of the pages toward the front) an architectural salvage yard a few hours from me, and dh & I are going there on Saturday to look at claw foot tubs. When I called there yesterday, the owner said Ki & Sue have been long-time customers and are just as nice as can be! He was a very friendly person and I'm looking forward to Saturday.

Thanks for posting that! I've seen them on TV before but didn't know the name of their store. A friend and I are working on our own "junk" stuff called "Junque Chic" so I sent her that link, I'm sure she'll LOVE it too!

A lot of what is in this new magazine has been presented in Country Home, with some new things added in. It's nice to have one place where we can get to Sue and Ki's ideas all at once!!

Thanks Beth,

I love this kind of stuff, or should I say junk? Checked out the site and I may go buy the magazine.
