My daughter Shannon turns 25 tomorrow. I want to celebrate the day that beautiful creature came into my life! She has grown into a strong, kind and creative young woman. Thank you God for giving me such a wonderful gift! Now the bittersweet part, she married a wonderful young man who is in the active duty army and lives in South Carolina. I have been there 8 times over the last couple of years but it is just not enough. Shannon and I are real close and I miss having her near me. I wanted to go visit for her birthday, but circumstances have made it impossible for me to go now. Maybe I will go in July for my birthday. We have vowed that when our husbands both retire from the military, that we will be near each other. Until then, I just wanted to share my daughter's birthday with my farmgirl friends.

i know it is hard, my mom and i talk daily. We now live closer to each other than we have in the last 15 years. I still dont see her but once a week or less as it is still over an hr away and with her schedule and mine, its hard.

Thanks for the compliments...I didn't want to look selfish, I just miss her terribly. I try not to show her though, she gets upset and then we both start crying. See her DH was getting out of the army and they were planning on living in WI. He changed his mind and re-enlisted. I am proud of him for that, but now they move around every three years or so. They plan on having children 5 years before he retires so by the time the children are in school, they will be in one place. He will be only 39 at retirement! Thanks for letting me celebrate her with you.

Awe Diane, you guys are too cute <3

Sounds a lot like me and my mom. She and my dad live in VA where I grew up, but I married and moved to MI and my sister, who was in the USAF was always all over the place and now that she is medically retired, she married and is living in CA. So, my mom feels just like you. I miss my mom terribly and I wish she would come live in MI near me, but she's too afraid of the cold LOL!

Thanks for sharing Diane,
I just realized how very blessed I am to have one of my daughters only 5 miles away. We see each other several times a week and I take every opportunity to spend time with my granddaughter.

Diane, what a beautiful daughter. And I wish her a very happy birthday. I have both my DDs here now. But they have both moved away before. I hated it. I hope they stay around here forever.

Ok, one more picture...the day she was married. Also bittersweet, because she moved away Thanks for all the compliments and encouragement. We do talk almost every day and we have video chat, but it is not the same. I am trying not to whine too much, I know that they grow up and fly away.

Note: tatoos on shoulders, her middle name is Star. I told her someday she would wish she didn't do that. LOL

Yes, she was married in a pink dress! It was beautiful

Oh Diane! She looks so much like you! I am sorry that you don't get to go down there for her birthday. Have you tried video chats through Skype? My mom and I are very close and I used to live 725 miles away. It was torture. I loved Idaho but I hated the distance from my family. *hugs* I hope you are able to get to see each other soon! *hugs*

As well as mom and daughter your picture shows the love of friends too. Isn't it amazing how we can see our kids grow into people we would love and enjoy even if they weren't our own? I hope your dream comes true of living near each other again in the future. Happy Birthday to Shannon!
