I found myself & my dad on it & removed both our listings by hitting the privacy link at the bottom of the page. removal was quick & easy via an email confirmation.I never gave the site permission to have my info on there. http://www.spokeo.com

Posted - May 02 2010 : 3:11:56 PM Thanks for the information. I went to check it and they have both addresses for me but one claims I have children the other said I have no children. I deleted one, got the message in my E-mail followed the directions. Saw that it was removed went to delete the second one only to find the first one was back up. Again with the wrong information.
Hope all your days are Sunnydays. dianebcarterhotmailcom.blogspot.com |

Posted - May 02 2010 : 10:55:45 AM fortunately the info they had on me was minimal and some of it incorrect. Most of it is available through any phone book or county records. No photos so that is good.

Posted - May 02 2010 : 08:48:25 AM Bear5,check your spam box in your email. It's probably in there. Glad you girls found it useful-I was shocked to see how much about me was on there, tho some of it was outdated-for example it claimed I was married & I've been single again for 10 yrs now. I'll check the snopes link. Tell your friends!

Posted - May 02 2010 : 08:09:43 AM Snopes is one of the best sites available. Whenever I get email with a ridiculous or outrageous topic, I check Snopes , then return my findings to the original sender. |

Posted - May 02 2010 : 01:52:43 AM If you go to http://www.snopes.com/computer/internet/spokeo.asp as Jessie suggested you will find that Snopes says that in the end what spokeo is looking for is your email address and they will get it if you request privacy. Go to snopes and read the last paragraph. MB

I am always hesitant to do these sorts of things, because I am always worried they are pfishing for more information. However, when I checked it out with Snopes, it should it really was true. How sad! Thanks for sharing! hugs Jessie
