Do any of you girls have any really bad habits, or bad things you do when you know you shouldn't?

It was 80 degrees here yesterday, and as I was driving around town, I turned on the air conditioning, then opened the windows. **At the same time!** I know it's a colossal waste of energy, but it feels really nice!
And then the guilt...you know the feeling when you have a little devil on one shoulder , and a little angel on the other ?

I swear I'm not a bad person!

Decorating Magazines...that's it. I spend all that money on those magazines. I always feel guilty but just love to look at ideas for our house. I know I can't afford the way the magazine does it,but it sure is fun to try to come close with bargains and flea-market finds.
Susan... loved the pond cake that you didn't eat story! LOL

I never feel bad about running the AC in my car -- nothing worse than being hot while driving or riding!

Debbie -- I can relate to your hot and cold situation. I run a fan summer and winter plus sleep with the window open. Have a sheet and light flannel blanket to sleep under except for the heavy comforter for my feet. I hate having cold feet!

um... you mean like making yourself a pound cake and eating it all by yourself within two days?

Nope never did that. Not me.

but I do have a nasty habit of leaving every light in the house on.

The plastic water bottle I use at work used to belong to a friend, and it still has her very prominent Earth First sticker on it. "No compromise in defense of Mother Earth!" I feel pretty embarrassed when I come back from the cafeteria with takeout lunch in plastic and styrofoam containers.

Crank up the wood stove then open the doors in the spring. DOH gets cranky about this but he would just let it be cold inside instead.

When I've been at a horse show all day, and I'm hot and grimy and stiff and sore, I like to climb in the truck and crank up the air for the front side of me, and turn the seat heaters on for the back side of me! When you're towing 5000#, running the air doesn't seem to affect fuel economy much, so I don't feel too bad.

Buying yet another pair of Ariats or another jacket. Those are things I don't need. Will I go barefoot if I don't have another pair, or will I freeze in the cold if I don't buy yet another jacket? Nope, but I'm just drawn to them!

Bad things when I know I shouldn't? I probably spend WAY too much time on the internet. I could be far more productive doing something else besides surfing, but I love it!

Buying more books. I have dozens that I haven't gotten to yet, but when I see one I want, I just grab it! I'm such a book junkie.

So that explains why I like wine so much since I gave up brownies and chocolate chip cookies!

Peace

Hey Farm Girls!!!

Mine is candy and coca cola. I just love both and know that I should not touch it when I am already overweight.

Guess that I could be an alcoholic, though, as many of my relatives are/were. I have learned that alcoholism is a sugar addiction, also!!

My issue (for someone into simple living and not owning much) is the incredible amount of "things" I collect mainly from thrift stores and hide under beds and in backs of closets that dh never sees! It's usually stuff I'm going to give away again, like I'll find some fantastic wool blankets and wait until winter when some of the "kids" (20-somethings) are camping out at the retreat center and I know they'll need extra blankets. It fulfills my "need" for shopping AND my complusion for getting a great deal. But in the end I don't have to own it forever.

If he knew how much crap we really have hidden away, he'd freak out. We have a very small place so I don't put anything where he goes...

In the winters I do a very similar thing -- stoke the wood stove to nice an hot, and then open the window in our bedroom to have cold air - inasmuch as I'm not the real wood-chopper around here, I'm just glad my DH can laugh about me sometimes!

XOXO, Libbie

I am so bad about turning the AC on in my van if the temp gets above 60. I just love that cold air on my face. And Debbie..I love sleeping that same way. I am glad I am not the only one. It drives my husband crazy too.

How about the car top down and the heat on?

Pray for our troops to come home safe and soon.
Enjoying the road to the simple life :>)

I open the windows and then put the fan on low, but sleep under the comforter. My DH thinks I'm nuts. Not nuts, just "flashin'". I get hot and then cold all night.

We've been using alot of paper towels for puppy clean-up instead of rags! the brownie mix reminds me of my step-daughter,she loves for me to make her cookie dough so she can eat some of the raw dough!
akcowgirl Posted - Apr 29 2006 : 8:26:01 PM
i make a batch of brownie mix and have no intention of ever cooking it, i just like to eat it raw.
