My Mother gave me her GrandMother's Silver Thimble yesterday.
Isn't it beautiful.
My Mother said her GrandMother had a saying:"Always have a silver thimble and you will never lose it".
It is very old and she gave it to me---she must FINALLY trust me.

After all that I forgot to post the picture--yipes!

Nicole, I don't really know how old it is--my Mother said her Grandmother was born in 1851 and died in 1937 but I don't know when my Mother received it. I guess I have some sleuthing to do. MB

WOW! I didn't know they made thimbles so beautiful. Shoot, these days you're lucky if you can even find one made of any metal. Most are plastic....it's sad.Lucky you, MaryBeth!

My grand mother said something about the same thing
She told me when I learned to quilt that If I didn't use a thimble I would be Sorry !!

And just looking it over some more and again I found her initials engraved on the thimble. Almost worn away and I can't get a good pic of them. I love it!!! MB

Absolutely gorgeous, Mary Beth, and how lucky you are to be the next generation of women in your family to have it. I have my Great Great Aunt's silver needle case (very similarly marked) that used to hang around her neck on a long chain.

I have never seen such a beautiful thimble. So intricately carved. A tiny work of art.

What a treasure. Your thimble is beautiful , with rich memories surrounding it.

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
