Posted - Mar 19 2010 : 6:05:52 PM Helped my girls start their organic "salad garden" today. They decided since there are 3 girls who could not be Farmettes because of their age (12) they decided they want to be called "Farmgirl Cultivators" so they can all be the same. They were so proud - I will share photos later....then they had collected clothes, food and personal hygeine items for the crisis in Haiti, but it could not get shipped out. They were sad that it could not go to people in need - until I brought up tht my husband works for Catholic Charities and they have brought families here for medical care from Haiti, along with their families and they are putting them up in rented homes - and these Haitian families needed what the children had collected....so I loaded my pickup and delivered the kids offerings. Then ran around doing chores and errnds and ran into folks who needed a helping hand and I pitched in when I could and realized that I had my Farmgirl patch on my bag - so I hope they noticed the farmgirl attitude...helping out where needed. Great day!

Posted - Mar 21 2010 : 06:03:02 AM Don't know about all that - except they re exceptional girls with learning problems and I am working hard to teach them how great they are - how much impact they can have in so many ways - and empower them to take over the world! In a school of 80 or so students we have 9-10 girls - they have to deal with alot of testosterone and a lot of silliness form the boys (grades 1-12) so they love getting together as girlfriends and learning to be supportive of one another - it has cut down on the "drama diva" mentality too - too busy for that stuff!
Can't wait unitl MadGardener gets to visit the gilrs in late april or early May - and they are going to take a few field trips re: organics and hydroponic gardening.....working on their first badges. :)

It's all good!
