Posted - Mar 19 2010 : 3:35:41 PM Very special basket Nancy Jo. You have taken good care of it.
I used to collect the eggs in my jacket pockets until I leaned up against a horse manger and mashed the eggs. A pocket of scrambled eggs. I shoulda had a basket. MB

Posted - Mar 19 2010 : 1:51:53 PM You and I have a lot of favoriote things in common, I have noticed as I follow your blog (I guess that is why I always check out your blog!). And baskets is one of those common interests. That is a wonderful basket, and the fact it is a family heirloom makes it priceless!!! Love it. Egg baskets are my absolute favorite type. There is something so personal about them, or down home. Then comes picnic baskets. Both have to do with food....hmmm? :)

Posted - Mar 19 2010 : 1:26:19 PM What a beautiful basket, Nancy Jo. The history behind our treasures is what makes them extra special~
I inherited my grandfathers glass egg collection. There is about 40 eggs in the collection, all different sizes, and each one unique. Also a small wire gathering basket. I also have his collection of small opaque glass chickens on a nest box. Have only ever found one other in all my years of searching. My grandparents had a farm in upstate NY, and have so many wonderful memories there.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful treasures~

Posted - Mar 19 2010 : 09:24:09 AM Nancy Jo, write down the history of the basket on one of your handmade cards. Include some photos. So many of our little heirlooms have stories behind them that are lost. |
