I had a pretty stressful day today. Then, when I went to the mailbox, there was a wonderful handwritten letter from my MJF penpal! It came just at the right time! Her letter brightened my day, and I marvel at how much we have in common. How cool is this...the forum is based from MaryJane's Farm in Idaho, I'm in Connecticut, my penpal friend is in Minnesota, and we were matched up by someone in Washington State.

Debbie,

Neat story. It's changed alot here since then, too. Newtown has grown alot. I guess that's true of anywhere. Putting feelers out for a Chapter, but so far no bites...oh well.

I've always thought Idaho must be really beautiful. Enjoy.

Hi Nicole,
I lived there for 5 years - from 1994 -> 1999. I loved it there, but had to commute to NY for work so I couldn't get a real sense of community at the time. Too tired after all that driving. I loved Bethel and the old buildings (library. churches, etc) but then we made this really big move to Idaho. Now, I only commute about 5 minutes and I'm part of the city. I'm a member of the Chamber of Commerce, The Lions Club and on City Council. I know the postmaster, the ladies and men in the grocery stores, etc. I live in a city of about 7000. When I moved her it was only about 3000. Big influx of people during the boom before the bust!! I'm still living in town, and would like some acreage for chickens, goats, etc one day. I do miss CT/NY soooo much because that's where I was raised and all our families are still back there. We visit, but the lifestyle out here is great. I hope you find some folks to join a chapter. Be patient.

i had a day like that not long ago... i was so depressed one day, so lonely i couldn't even get out of bed. my hubby went and got the mail and a letter from my penpal came at just the right time... maybe we farmgals have a "connection" that goes way beyond words? :)
