Posted - Feb 21 2010 : 2:27:34 PM I have several of the dolls of the nations and have tried to find out about what they are worth as I would not mind parting with them. I don't have the boxes or original packaging. Janneane |

I had the dolls from different nations too but mine were collected with labels off the Frito's bags! Unfortunately, they have been gone for many years.

Posted - Feb 18 2010 : 7:58:59 PM Storybook dolls were a little different than the dolls of the nations but just as loveable. So neat that you found those on ebay, Nancy Jo
I had some storybook dolls I think they were from the 1940s or so. they were Little Red Riding Hood and Goldoelocks and other stories. They were bisque and had jointed arms. My little brother got into them one day and broke a lot of them. They were very special and although I kept them they were stolen when my house was vandalized about 10 years ago. Not where I live now though. Here's a link to what they looked like and the history of them.

Posted - Feb 18 2010 : 7:43:19 PM Oh my goodness Nancy jo, I recall collecting them, well dolls like them, I collected the Dolls of the Nations...clad in their countries National dress. My then boyfriend and now hubby bought them for me at the Atlantic Richfield (now called ARCO) gas station back in the early 1970's. You had to buy a full tank of gas (at a whopping .57cents a gallon) and got them for around a dollar if I recall. They came in little plastic domes for display. Oh how I wish I still had them....sold them eons ago in a yard sale. Bummer! I also remember being able to buy 'naked' versions of these dolls at the local J.J.Newberries & Sprouse Ritz, 5 & Dime stores...then you could either sew dresses or crochet or knit dresses for them and lets not forget the ones that had dress made from thin light foam tissue.... ok, just tripped & stumbled down memory lane! hahaha! >^..^< Happiness is being a katmom. Posted - Feb 18 2010 : 3:16:47 PM I called them storybook dolls. I have some of mine in a box upstairs. I think many of them would represent different countries, and I played with mine all the time.....I remember standing them all along the sofa in our living room and I must have been about 7. Yours sure cleaned up nice!
