Haven't seen any posts lately from all you girls that are going to FRANNIES in a few weeks. Is that still on? What kind of plans are you all making?

I'm so jealous, but more so, so happy for you all being able to travel and visit together at Miss Frannie's Cabin. I want to come along so badly, but it's the weekend before our son and future daughter-in-law's wedding shower. And I'm putting it on, so I have lots to do.

My "super brain" tells me, "ah, that's no problem, you can do it all." But then reality and common sense comes calling and says, "You know better, it just will be too much." Boo hoo!

I hope everyone comes back with lots of pictures and fun stories and grand memories that you will share with everyone.

It's an even bigger bummer because I was so looking forward to riding and driving with Patti for 5 or so hours and getting to know her in person. Are you going through Paduckah(sp?) or STL to get there? If you go through STL, I would be happy to provide a resting/refreshment spot for you in either direction, Patti. And I must agree you definitely have a wonderful husband to know how much this means to you despite all that is going on with your dreams at home and encourage you to stick with your plans for visiting. Way to go, Steve!

I'm so close, yet so far away. I think I remember Frannie saying that she was considering doing one in the fall, too. If that is the case, I will hopefully be able to go then, God-willing.

I pray everyone has safe travels coming and going, and that those who are driving will only drive as fast as their guardian angels can fly, because I know how anxious you will be to get there. :o) You will all be in my prayers for a wonderful visit and safe jouneys while you are there.

Blessings on your day.

In His hands,
Lynda

Pray in faith and you will not live in doubt.

okay, ladies, what are you planning to wear while you're at Frannie's this weekend? Just wondering what to bring.

Frannie
Enjoyed our day at town and with the girls all the way from NY. Sounds like you worked yourself into a tizzy and scared your friends to death, but all was fine by the end of the day.
Yes love love yellow this time of year, must have more of it.
When are you going to put some stuff up for adoption? And that would be great if you and the farmgirls got to be in a magazine layout. Well you know pictures.
Bought 3 long flowing skirts this morning, thought of you, only meant to buy one, but well these things happen.
Anyway thanks for the nice day in town.

hey ya's! i'm getting real excited about our upcoming 'farmgirls gathering' .. i think we have about a DOZEN of us coming so far .. including the two editors of Mercantile Gathering Magazine .. would be fun to do an article on our gathering for the magazine!!

i did just have five new friends come visit for the day this week .. here's my little 'kentucky ramblings' adventure report that i sent to all the girls on my Kentucky Ramblings and Treasure Seekers e-mail lists .. if you wanna' see the photos .. jus' e-mail me and i'll add you to whichever list you'd like to be on! xo

SUNNY DAY

(well .. o.k. .. i just HAD to post THIS one!!)

if fun were a color .. i do believe it would be SUNSHINE YELLOW!

five new friends that i met on-line .. came for a FUN day in Green County!
Joyce, Becky, Teresa, Carolyn and Joanne

I had actually met Joanne at Glovers' Station .. but .. this is the first time we have had an opportunity to pal around together! The girls arrived at Cabin Creek Farm at about 9 a.m. .. and we had a little 'tour-ette' of Cabin Creek .. while i
'regaled' them with tales (and you KNOW how i love to 'regale'!!) ... and we all got to know each other!

I served a fruit salad (no cooking involved) .. and popped some cream cheese croissants in the oven after they arrived and put the girls in charge of NOT letting them BURN! And we had raspberry tea.

The girls surprized me with wonderful gifts .. that i adore!!!!
(oh how i do love prizes!!!)

I had gotten them each a little sunny bouquet of daisies .. and a little bag of fabric carrots that i made.

After hanging out at the 'farm' for a little while .. we headed for my sweet, sweet village of Greensburg!
Glovers' Station was our first stop .. and as always .. even "I" found new olde treasures to bring home!
A new shoppe in town was having a 'ribbon cutting' .. so i scooted over there to meet our new neighbor and jus' fell in love with the little five year olde 'angel child' (EMILY) of the owner of our new shoppe. She is about three years old and i took her by the hand and walked her over to Glovers' Station to meet 'the gurlz' .. and to find a little 'treasure' in my booth. (she chose one a little aprons with a 'pocket bunny).

then we wandered over to 'the Headhunters' ... so i could introduce her to another little love of mine .. five year old Walker .. but alas and alack .. he was at pre-school .. so Emily and i have a date this friday to go meet that young man and have a 'slaw burger, fries and a ski'!

Then we all headed up to Hannah and Friends folk art shoppe.

(PHOTO)
this my dears, is Hannah Stearns .. the 'momma' of Cabin Creek Farm!!

Of couse, we didn't leave there without some goodies too .. she has the BEST olde-timey green easter grass .. i loaded up on a couple bags .. and got some great prim napkins and napkin holders (i adore using cloth napkins and don't mind a bit the washing and ironing of them!) never use paper anymore! OH! and i got from hannah yet another magazine that cabin creek farm was featured in .. this was one that i did not already have in my collection .. so i was thrilled!

The lower cabin .. what we call: The Creek

(PHOTO)
wonderful country kitchen!

upper "Cabin"

(PHOTO)
whoops .. thar's another one of them thar 'lay-down' ... pitchers!
THE STRANGER ROOM

Hannah very sweetly gift-wrapped some of the devine cookies she bakes fresh each morning and gifted them to each of us!

THEN .. we ambled on over to that adorable Lucy Tucker's Tea Room and Restaurant. I swear .. if you could only go to one place in Greensburg (oh and what a SHAME it would be to have to limit yourself to only ONE place!!!) .. do make it Lucy Tuckers!!!

We are so very lucky to have such a charming and incredibly DELICIOUS place to dine for lunch in our town!
I got a chicken salad plate to die for .. (which .. by the way .. i almost did!) It had a yummiest side 'fruit salad, poppy seed roll and melt-in-your-mouth 'lady finger' dessert! I figured i was eating about 20 million CARBS .. give or take a few .. so .. i shot a whopping 14 units of insulin into my tummy and ENJOYED every mouthfull!

After our delcious repast .. we stopped in at the most charming gift shoppe in all of Kentucky .. The Plaid Peacock .. i swear .. they truly do have the most charming gifts .. i couldn't resist a wonderful glass-globe candle holder surrounded by white stars:

(PHOTO)

next .. we headed down the road to cute kathy's Cobblestone Farm .. where amidst all the
shopping (oh and i got the CUTEST black purse with beaded handles!!!!)

(PHOTO)
o.k. .. it's sideways .. you know the drill .. flop your head down on the keyboard and look at it!

(PHOTO)
here's that cute beaded handle!

all of a sudden .. i felt the 'woozylies' coming on .. and checked my blood sugars .. which had dropped to 40 .. at which point .. i believe i was stuttering, slurring, slobbering and walking around in circles making clucking chicken sounds!
Kathy fed me yummy tarts .. and we headed up the road where the Dairy Queen treated me to an ORANGE JUICE .. which i washed down with Hannahs two HUGE cookies ... took a little while .. but soon .. i was back in 'shopping mode'!!!
so .. on we went to cute Pamela's Beehind Thyme in Campbellsville ..

that darlin' girl has been finding momma's for my rag chilluns from all over the place .. sooo .. of course, instead of
wantin' the $$$ for them .. i wanted goodies!
this is some of what i got!!

(PHOTO)
isn't this jus' the cutest thing ever!

it's a little 'sewing rack .. top bin for my scissors, threads and needles
bottom rack for my fabric and current project!
i ADORE it!!!

(PHOTO)
Pamela's sweet momma really 'gets' primitive .. and she made these funky prim 'stars'
jus' had to have them too!!!!

*******

We were saying our 'goodbyes' at Pamela's as the girls were going to head on east toward home .. and i had to get back to town for our Arts In The Alley meeting (will tell you ALL about that soon!!!!!!) .. you MUST come and maybe even exhibit!!!!!!

but Pamela casually mentioned she had gotten some real treasures at the local Peddlar's Mall .. WELL .. needless to say that was all we crazed shopping women needed to hear .. and headed directly for there!

I'm whipping around the store (with those 300 blood sugar-readings coarsing through my veins) .. when i hear coming across the loud-speaker:

FRANNIE .. WOULD YOU PLEASE COME TO THE FRONT DESK!

i knew all the girls that knew where i was .. was with me .. soooo .. my first thought, of course was: Mt. Everest! but i quickly dispelled that one with NAH! EVEN HANK DOESN'T KNOW I'M HERE SPENDING MONEY!

seems i had run off from pamela's and left my purse at her shoppe! checked to see WHICH purse i left .. fearing the worse .. that it might be the one with my MAKE-UP in it!!!!! or perhaps, dear gawd .. my MONEY!!!!!
but it only turned out to be my MEDICINES (insulin).
so, of course, i continued SHOPPING!!!!

AFTER LOTS OF HUGS AND KISSES GOODBYE TO THE GURLFRENZ ..
i realized that going back to pamela's shoppe would be yet ANOTHER opportunity to SHOP!!!
... so i did!

remembered .. that i was late already for my Arts Council meeting .. i burned rubber all the way back to Greensburg .. to gather with the gurlfrenz and talk ART!

Wanted to hit the Dairy Queen for a little 'smackerel of sumpthin' with friend anne .. but figgered .. i'd done enuff
'eatin' damage for one day!

so i came home and ate pistachio nuts in bed while reading a book t'il i nodded off!

*******

up bright and early this morning .. did my tibetan prayer flag dance .. jumped into some clothes .. and out the door .. heading for town. went to a meeting with the adorably beautiful audrey wolf who is our new County Extension Service Agent .. there is going to be a big 'heritage arts' weekend event this september .. and i volunteered to teach a doll-making class.

will tell you all more about that fun event soon too!!!

got back to town about 3:30-ish .. bopped into glovers' station .. carol gave me a big hug and in her stern 'mother voice' ... told me half the town was lookin' for me ..and "WHERE WERE YOU!!!!"

god love these kentucky friends .. they are so very dear to me!

seems a few of them knew about my 'almost swoon' i had taken yesterday and out of concern started calling my home .. no answer that night ... (wasn't home yet) .. no answer in the morning (i'd already left home) .. and they figgered i was laid out deader'n a doornail on the cabin floor! that PRECIOUS PRECIOUS MIMI and PEACHES .. closed up shoppe .. put a note on the door ..
(GONE HUNTIN' ... FOR FRANNIE) ..
WELL .. O.K. .. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS ZACKLY WHAT IT SAID .. BUT THAT IS WHAT IT MEANT!)
CUZ' THEY WENT SPEEDIN' UP HIGHWAY 61 HEADIN' FOR MY CABIN! COULDN'T GET IN .. BUT NOTICED THAT THE DAWGS HAD NOT DRAGGED MY BODY OUT INTO THE YARD TO GNAW ON MY 'DAID' BONES .. SO WENT BACK TO TOWN!

I swear .. my heart runneth over with joy for my kentucky friends!

I have some precious Maryland friends jus' like 'em too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well .. anyhoo .. after visiting mimi and hugging her and thanking her so very much .. i promised that i would send out a 'daily itinerary' and let them all know my 'important phone numbers' .. AND .. that i will keep my cell phone CHARGED and ON .. for the rest of the month!

Sittin' here this evening with a smile on my face and a blessing in my heart!

xoxoxo,

true friends

I'm going too...can't wait. This week is horribly busy for me as church secretary and part of our Easter musical as well...so next weekend at Frannie's will be a nice relaxing "finale" to it all.

Can't wait to meet you Patti!

That's a good question. Everyone I know considers us as being in the Midwest, and that's how the media, weather folks, etc., refer to us. I have always felt like we're just kind of the average state that doesn't really fit in one of the more well-known regions, like the South, or the Southwest.

My son goes to college in Mississippi, and his frat brothers & even some of his professors refer to him as a Yankee. They're nice about it, joking, of course, and he thinks it's kind of funny. He's had his first taste of being somewhere that he's not the "norm".

The only roads with 70 and 80 that I know of are I-70 and I-80. I-70 goes around St. Louis and to the west to Kansas City and I-80 is more toward the north middle of the state. There are lakes that way.

Is MO considered SE? I'm curious. I've driven through it twice, on my way from the east coast to the west coast or Rockies. I would have placed it as part of the Midwest, because it sure seems like the midpoint of the trip. But when I hear about the Ozarks it seems like a southern culture. How do you Missourians see yourselves?

BTW, I've come through on Rte 70 and Rte 80. If I remember correctly, Rte 70 seemed just like Iowa and Kansas, only with lots of signs offering bait for sale so there must have been water nearby. Rte 80 went through rolling hills with rather unfriendly quickmart staff. Relative to Missouri as a whole, what parts of the state was I in? Is my memory accurate?

Patti,

You have so much to look forward too. I'm hoping someday I can meet up with Frannie and some of you Southeastern (is MO considered SE?) gals.

I'm still going. I told dh I'd stay home because of the move and everything else, and he said no way. He's even having our 2nd garage sale while I'm gone. I've got a fantastic husband!

Anyway, I am so excited! This weekend is Easter, next weekend is the trip to Frannie's, and the next Friday we may close on our house.
