I wanted to start a blog and thanks to this webiste, I discovered blogspot.com after seeing it on posts for other farmgirls' sites. After creating my blog I tried finding it on Yahoo and Google but it wouldn't come up. It will come up if I use the Google search on my toolbar, but not the Google.com search. So I tried the same search engines and put in some of the blogspot sites from the blog roll call and they came up fine. Do I need to change a setting or something? Do I need a custom domain? Need advice from fellow blogspotters.

Renee,in time Google sends out "spiders" that crawl the web and pick up new sites-yours will be added whenever the spiders go out again. I gotta see your blog.....

Kathy, I updated my profile and added the http:// to the address. I also asked to have it listed on the blog roll call here and it's now there. I already have a follower, so someone is able to find me. I asked the same question on the blogspot forum and I got similar answers as what Julie said. I guess I'll have to be patient for now. Thanks girls!

Things usually take a little while to show up on search engines. Search engines actually look for things with high traffic, key words, tags etc and match based on those. The more you post and the more traffic you get, and if you properly use tags and categories it will come up sooner on search engines.

Marian, I checked the settings and they were already at what you recommended. I just created the blog today (1/28). Does it need to update overnight or something?

You can go to CUSTOMIZE on your blog )in the top of your screen it says NEW post and CUSTOMISE. Click CUSTOMISE..
Then click on SETTINGS, go to BASIC. There you will find LET SEARCH ENGINES FIND YOUR BLOG. Change that to YES. Maybe you have to change ADD YOUR BLOG TO OUR LISTINGS to YES too.
I have both to NO, because I do not want to be found by either lol. I think if you change both to YES it will be fixed.
Try it, and let us know if you will.
