Hi Farmgirls, All of you ladies have such pretty names I would love to know how you got them. Heres mine! I got my first name Hannah from the bible. I spelled it with a C for a while because it is the hebrew spelling and I really liked it. But now I am thinking maybe I should just keep it the way it was. Sorry I'm still thinking about it. and my middle name is Jessie and how I got that is from my very sweet great aunt who died before I got to know her. Her name was Emma Jessie. So I was named after her. So how did you get yours?
Hugs,
Channah

My name Beverley I got from my mother so I consider myself a Jr. men can why not women. It really does have an extra E in it that is on my birth certificate that way. My spelling is the English spelling that is the feminine spelling while the name Beverly is actually the masculine spelling for the English. but you know us American we have to shorten everything so here in America people spelled it that way. but I like mine spelled just the way it is. And Channah I like your name just the way it is!!!!

I was supposed to be Kathleen Lilly which is my grandmothers names. A perfectly beautiful and fitting name for me. My mom was knocked out because my birth was a little difficult. When it came time to give them my name my dad who had been "out with the guys" couldn't remember what they had agreed on. I suspect he had a little to much funny punch because he told them Kristie Michelle which happened to be my cousin's name. Imagine how I felt when at a family reunion I met someone with my name! I would have been OK if that spoiled rotten brat I call my cousin, hadn't whispered under her breath "I had it first"!

Yes.. these are my rose colored glasses. It's a pretty way to see.

My folks had already named me, but when my grandmother (mom's side) came to see me in the hospital she requested they name me after what she thought was the most beautiful time of the day.

My name is Judy Joyce...and mama said that when she was pregnant with me, she and Daddy were watching a western on TV and there was music playing from a saloon down the street and someone said, "Where is that nice music coming from?" Another person said, "From Judy Joyce's!" Mama said to Daddy, "I like that name!" (and all this time I thought I was named after Judy Garland) *Geesh* LOL

I was almost named Ernestina Faye after my maternal grandfather, who I never got to meet as he died when my mom was 12. His name was Ernest Lyle. I am named Stephenie Kay after my father, whose name was Steven. I also have a brother named Steven, Jr. who is only 11 months younger than I. Then I have a brother named Ernest. My youngest brother, Jim, was definitely going to be Ernestina Faye if he was a girl.

I got my name Jamie becasue my mom had already had three boys and figuring I was going to be a boy also she planned on naming me James after my paternal grandfather. Then when oops, I came out a girl my grandfather said, "Well I guess I don't get a boy named after me afterall." And my parents told him "no", that I would still be named after him it would just be Jamie instead of James. Here is the irony in it all. My grandfather never called me Jamie, he always called me Janie. My dad says it was because he couldn't hear well but assures me he knew my correct name.

Hosanna Posted - Jan 27 2010 : 09:03:30 AM
My mom named all of her children Bible names. She says she would choose several, and once we were born, she said she would look at us and that she'd "know" what our name was supposed to be. So mine is Hosanna Joy Shalom (peace).

My name is Jonni (pronounced John-e). I was named after my great grandfather who was a drummer boy in the Civil War (for the South) who was called John Eustice Long (but went by John E. Long). From what I understand, my mother wanted to call me Beatrice and my father said it was for "larger ladies" and that he would prefer, boy or girl, to call a baby John E., after his much admired Grandfather. So, there it is.

I was named after both my grandmothers. Mary Elizabeth and Ida Belle. So, I am Mary Belle. I went by Mary Belle until 40 years ago when my baby nephew couldn't put Aunt Mary Belle together and he called me Aunt Belle. I have been Belle ever since. Got my first computer 14 years ago and Bellepepper has always been my user name. My first chat room was a garden chat.

I'm named after my Mom's little sister which is weird since I never thought they were all that close. My middle name is Kathleen and I have no idea where that came from other than Kathy/Cathy were really popular girls names when I was born. I do like them together, Audrey Kathleen, but you knew when Mom called you that you were in BIG trouble!

My first name Kathryn was for someone my mother knew and I don't know where the Ann came from. magnoliakathy, I live in Magnolia, Texas and Kathy is what most people call me.

My only daughter is named Kimberly Ann, I was so sure she was going to be a boy, I had only boy names picked out, and only bought blue stuff, 10 hours into a 14 hour labour, it dawned on me I could be wrong and I started crying, they brought me a box of Kleenex and sat it on my chest - there on the side "manufatured by Kimberly Clark, Inc." So, Kimberly and Ann after me. At that time I didn't even know anyone named Kimberly.

I was named Mary Jane after my mothers grandmother, who raised her. A very Irish Mary Jane Kelly. I like Maggie! My daughter has been called Maggie since she was born, courtesy of my Dad. Her name is Mary Margaret but Dad thought that was way too much for a tiny girl, so Maggie came and has stuck for 43 years!

Hello Robin, I love your name because it is my moms too. :) Heres how I came up with Maggie14. I really liked the name at that time and wanted my name to be Maggie so I put it as my user name ( I really like my name though and would not change it for anything), and I came up with 14 because that was my age at the time. So Maggie14 it was! But I really do wish I could change it now. Maybe I'll name one of my baby goats Maggie. :)

My mom named me after a Carly Simon song Jesse that she liked around the time I was born. Since I was a girl, Jessica it is. :)
My middle name Nicole, was just one that she liked at the time.

I am Robin and my parents liked it because it reminded them of spring. They thought I was coming at Christmas and thought to name me Holly. I was born in January, so Holly went out the window. My Baptism name and confirmation names are after my godparents. Neither are on my birth certificate so they arent legal.

Hannah, How did you come up with Maggie14?

I am Roxy7 because Roxy is an old nickname. 7 is a lucky number. I have 4 names that begin with an R. Roxy isnt one of them!

I am Audrey Beth. Audrey after one of my Dad's girl friends. Her name was Audrey Lodeane. Beth I don't know where that came from but that is the one I have always gone by. Never went by Audrey. Mom didn't know until years later where Audrey came from.

My being named Sherrie is a mystery...no one in my family line has that name. But- my middle name is Yvonne.....I was named for Yvonne DeCarlo. I didn't appreciate that as a little girl because I only knew her as Lily Munster. It wasn't until I was in my early 30's that I saw pics of how beautiful she was as a young woman.

Well, my name was going to be Lessie Louise, after both grandmothers, but my great Aunt Carolyn stayed with my mom in when she was in labor with me, and so my mom named me Carol, after my great aunt. I like Lessie Louise, it sounds so much more country! Carol

I wasn't named until after i was born, my mom had 2 boys before me and was not ready for a girl, 2 of my Aunts were visiting her in the hospital and they were just calling out names, and one said Kelly, then my mom said Kelly Kathleen. Kathleen is my mothers name and great Aunts name. So that is how I got my name and who i am named after.
