The Apron

A protector of dresses and handler of hot dishes
Its pockets held a grocery list, a cough drop and and wishes.
It cleaned up scrapes, bruises and tears
And occasionally caught one of us with filthy ears.
In a pinch it was great for cleanin and dustin
Or a magical cape for my shy little cousin
It carried in wood, apples and peas
Or delicious black walnuts that fell from the trees
When evening grew close Gram would wave it for dinner
That Apron, it kept us, all tied together.

Of course you can use it. and yes, I write more now than I ever have....I am currently working with 870 Records out of Nashville on a song about my life in Medina, Ohio. I tend to lean towards hard, gutsy, blue-sy rock (think Miranda Lambert, Gretchen Wilson, Jamey Johnson, Kidd Rock and the old greats, Merle, Loretta, and Hank Jr). My writing is not soft and fluffy because that was not how I lived most the time. I am not usually a tactful person so writing for me is a way of expression as I tend to offend and have major episodes of word vomit in which I wish I could clean up directly....sometimes stuff is on my blog, and sometimes I let someone in...this was inspired by another farmgirl whom I ordered an apron off of and it came with this little apron blurb...I was sitting here on the computer on Facebook and that was beside me and the words just came...I sure hope she don't mind! Okay, speaking of word purge...look at the size of this reply... I'll be the one giving a thank you speech at the Grammy's and that big hook with appear to drag me off....haha...thank you girls!
