Posted - Jan 20 2010 : 07:05:05 AM Kayce, We always said "Lucas had his head in a cloud".. guess it was his calling..LOL As a mom, the one thing that I think I have succeeded in is really discovering who the boys are and appreciating them for who they are. I have four and they are all so very different. I have never compared them.. My oldest is in the Marine Corp and in Engineering. My second is Lucas, my third is our outdoorsman...sports, hunting, fishing, hiking...you name it... then there is my youngest who hates all things sports...loves science and bugs and dirt and......
I guess I would say, just be open to finding oppertunities for your kids and the rest will take care of itself....
Thank for all the praises of my son Lucas... He is awesome...it is such a joy to be their mom.

Posted - Jan 19 2010 : 4:49:26 PM Aw. What a proud mamma My son is 11. Navigation by the stars is so intreging. Not something one hears about often. I always ask when I meet someone that has a unique career. What direction would you steer someone that would be interested in something like that. LOL, I dont see a class for that in the college class registration.
God Bless

Posted - Jan 19 2010 : 06:56:47 AM Kayce, Lucas is a brilliant musician so in partI suppose it is the romance of travel. He has always beena lifeguard for the local swimming pool as well.. SO, drawn to the water. So I wasnt to surprised that he chose this path. How old is your son?

Posted - Jan 19 2010 : 06:45:04 AM How awesome is that!!!!! I ditto what Nan said. What was it that he chose to go into that field? The reason I ask is that my son doesnt seem interested in sports etc and am trying to help him find what intrigues him.

Posted - Jan 18 2010 : 6:05:56 PM My Son Lucas has been on the ship for three years. He teaches Navigation by stars and rescue swimming. That is him climbing the net. We got to ride the ship two years ago when he was in the Tacoma Wa area. And we hope to go to New London in August and ride it as it will be his last voyage. His 4 year term will be up.
Kerriann, That is so cool. I didnt know that you had been in the CG. Thank you for your service.

Posted - Jan 18 2010 : 12:53:25 PM Oooooooooh Myyyyyyyyyyyy Goshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Rene!!!!! Beautiful memories came back to me! I was in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1979 to 1983 and U.S. Cutter Eagle came to my station at Atlantic City for the Tall Ships week-end. I was privileged to sail on her for a bit. She is beautiful! Thank you for sharing the picture!
