Posted - Apr 16 2006 : 09:39:47 AM Hello, Just returned from my oldest son (25) graduation at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He will be there for another 4 weeks for hotel 8 training. He is a Bradley armored vehicle mechanic (Tanks) and the additional training is for search and rescue if I am understanding it right. He will then be home for 24 days and off to Fort Irwin until they decide to deploy him else where. My second son(22) is in Iraq at Camp Taji(?) outside of Baghdad. He left in Decemeber 05 out of Fort Hood, Texas. He will be home on leave sometime during May or June. Both Boys home at the same time.YES!!!!! My youngest son (18) is looking at enlisting some time this fall. I have a nephew in the rangers and he's all over the world. Last time I heard he was in Iraq. My daughters boyfriends brother (engineer) left in December for his second tour of Iraq with the Army and his other brother is Air Force. I also have many friends who have loved ones in the service. We pray daily that all service people will be safe and return home soon. Thank you to all service people who have fought to keep us free and those who will fight in the future for our freedom. Thank you also to all the wives and families who supported their loved ones missions to keep us free.
Pray for our troops to come home safe and soon. Enjoying the road to the simple life :>) |

Posted - Apr 12 2006 : 2:23:52 PM Annie, Your ever so much welcome.
Memorial Day and Veterans Day are highly celebrated in my household, always have been, always will be. It is important to us to remember our history and the military that have given us the freedoms that so many Americans take for granted.
I've flown our country's flag every day and night (lighted) since I first moved out of my parent's house nearly 30 years ago. The flags are given to the local American Legion for proper disposal when they warrant that.
We have many in our community that wear a hat or jacket or license plate proclaiming WWII Vet or Korean Vet or Viet Nam Vet and even a few Desert Storm Vets. I never pass up a chance to extend a hand and tell them "Thank you for your service" or if I see their license plate, and we're in a car, I salute them. I doesn't take long and the looks and comments you receive from these Veterans are unforgettable.
I don't know where our country would be without the men & women that serve and the families that support them.

I truly appreciate your expression of gratitude. It can be rough to live with the uncertainty of where he might be deployed to next week, but my husband loves his job, and is certainly proud to salute our colors every morning. I know he would say, "You're welcome!"

Posted - Apr 12 2006 : 08:23:52 AM I don't have the words to express my THANKS and LOVE for all members of the military and their families.
I hear people gripe about the war but don't take time to thank our military for the sacrifices they make so these folks have the freedom to gripe.
Both my teenage sons are members of the Civil Air Patrol (an auxiliary of the USAF with a cadet program). The oldest will be getting into the Naval ROTC at college this fall and the youngest (only 13) has his mind set on the Marines.
