Posted - Jan 09 2010 : 11:31:46 AM Peapicker, We are supposed to have regional groups for the Hotties Heart of Texas farmgirl group. I do not think the one has been formed for our area. I am thinking -still- that it would be neat to meet at the cracker barrel or the Petro in Weatherford on first Monday weekend and go to the flea market after breakfast. How many would do this? I hate to do it alone. We could make a swing by the feed store that sells organic things and maybe sometime a field trip to the Boudreau Herb farm in Mineral Wells. And maybe a trip to the Lavender Farm in Gainesville, if it did not freeze. I have ideas but who wants to join me? LaVonna

Posted - Jan 09 2010 : 11:18:44 AM Kristin- Email henhouses@maryjanesfarm.org and tell them you would like to start a new henhouse- the name of the new henhouse and then let us know when it gets put up on the Henhouse site (maybe in Chapter Chatter?) so we can start joining! :D

Posted - Jan 09 2010 : 08:33:17 AM I didn't even notice the ALL FORUMS part til I'd been here about 6 months. One day I clicked on it and whoa, it was like a whole new world! Didn't even know it was there. I'm not all that bright when it comes to this contraption, as ya'll can tell. And it takes me forever to type and longer still with gloves on.
Alee, what a good idea about the soap henhouse. That sounds like fun. How does one go about starting one up?

Posted - Jan 09 2010 : 08:03:44 AM I am like you all. I am trying to figure all this out. It seems like there is not enough local interest for everyone. I belong to a chapter here, but they just send a few email updates and thats it. I don't ever really talk to any of them. To be honest I can't even tell you their names. I have been looking at the hen houses too and there's not much there. I get the feeling MJ would like to redirect a lot of the communication, but I'm not really seeing how to do that yet. So, we might need some more detailed conversations with this subject.

Posted - Jan 09 2010 : 07:53:43 AM Kayce- you are pretty right. Some of the henhouses aren't too active- but I think as more people join they will get more active. I know I have been on this forum for something like five years now and when the main forum was younger it was a bit quieter at first too. So I think it is kindof the same think with the henhouses.

Posted - Jan 08 2010 : 8:09:11 PM I feel the same way. It is sorta confusing. I just spent the last few hours reading old posts, looking for chapters and trying to find henhouses that are active.
This is just what I understand. (LOL, doesnt mean its right)
Chapters are where you get together locally. Seems like lotsa fun.(I have contacted the ONE that is close to me several times and have recieved no response)
HenHouse seem more virtual. Cost $20 to join get # along with other benefits. Seems as if only a handful are active.
Most activities happen in the main forum.
As I said (doenst mean I'm right)
Off to figure more out. Maybe organize something that will stay active or consistant. In our area it might be best to have something regional. That looks like that has worked for other states.
Bunches of luck to ya, Kayce

Posted - Jan 08 2010 : 7:51:07 PM Hi Ladies!
The henhouses are a great tool for us to use to group together a bit closer. For instance all the gals who like to make soap could make a henhouse and post to it. Then all their discussions about soap recipes, methods, hints and tips would be in one easy to find location.
Also there are the merit badges that are a great way to explore new things and really have that incentive to push the envelope of our abilities. I know I am always one to say "I have always been meaning to do such and such" but never get it done. Well at least with the merit badges there is that extra level of inspiration! :D
Does that help at all?
