Remember her? When the Grand daughters were over the other day they were getting out a lot of the paper dolls. I forgot how many I have. Anyway I posted a picture of a few of the Betsy ones.

I loved Betsy McCall, too, Nancy Jo. I used to beg and nag my poor grandmother for that page in her magazine every month. She wouldn't give it up until she had read through the entire magazine! I still have my Betsy McCall doll in her original box. I just couldn't give her up.

You are right there are lots on the internet to print. I never thought of looking there. Thank you. I might be able to come with some gifts from them. I think making our own could be very interesting. It might take me a while to get a good system going.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

There are so many free printable paper dolls online...I collected them for a while and all kids got some for gifts.
Does anyone have an idea of how we could have a swap of paper dolls?
Perhaps print some outlined and color in....or design and draw our own??

You should be able to find paper dolls at the major bookstores. Or google paper Dolls and see what you come up with.

I did find the jacks at the Cracker Barrel site for 5.99. They look good too. I got sidetracked at the Lehmans site. There is way too much on there that I would like to have. I will check the bookstores and see what they have as far as paper dolls go. I just don't get to go there often. Anyway paper dolls are a weakness of mine. I love the older looking nostalgic ones.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

My mother had a set of First Ladies paper dolls that she played with when she was little and we played with also. I believe they came with their inauguation ball gowns and a few other sets of clothes. I think my younger sister wound up with them. For those who have embroidery machines, Martha Pullen had a set of paper dolls you could make on your embroidery machine. I never got them since they were all 5x7 fields and I only have a 4x4. Thought they were cute though.

I do remember Betsy McCall. I spent hours playing paper dolls. I also had a Doris Day set. Nice to see yours! Brings back memories.

I've also printed vintage paperdolls on a flat page and framed it. Makes a nice wall decoration....I should do that again!

I love paperdolls!
I don't know how to have a swap for them but I sure would if I could figure out how.
I collected and designed them for a while....there are clubs of adult women who collect and sell them. I have President Bill Clinton, Hillary, their daughter and his mother in paperdolls. It's kinda funny having them all in their undies...lol
Also, in Annie's Attic catalog they now sell a crochet pattern of "paper dolls". It looks like flat crochet dolls with wrap around clothes....hmmmmm to me it's just not the same as paper. LOL

I loved paper dolls. I had lots of them too. My fav was the Shirley Temple ones I had in 2 sizes. Mom gave us her old magazines, any kind, back then when she was done with them and I use to cut dresses and things out of them, leave a little room for a tab and ...walaaa...I made my own clothes for my paper dolls! Wasn't I creative? Man, what has happened to me, no imagination anymore. *hmmm, must get back to my childhood* My sister got on-line a couple of years ago and printed out Betsy McCall dolls and clothes and mailed them to me just for fun. I still have her.
Crackerbarrel.com has old-time toys too.

I loved Betsy McCall. We couldn't afford to buy the mag's all the time so I just had a couple of the dolls and I used paper and crayolas and designed my own new clothes. I have an old old Kleenex box full of them. I spent hours with those dolls. Thanks Nancy for the good memories.

Yes, she was in every issue of the McCall's magazine for years!
I know my girls all had paper dolls from the American Girl collection- I think they have a different name now, but they might still make paper dolls.
peapicker- have you tried the Vermont Country Store? I know they carry some of the old time toys, they just might have the good ones!

Nancy, those are fantastic!! I miss paper dolls. However, I did run across some reasonably priced at a bookstore this Christmas. Borders is the name of the store and they were on sale, but even their regular price wasn't too bad if you're looking for some for your granddaughters, peapicker.

I haven't seen the cute paper dolls in years. I just love them! I wish we could still find them in the stores. I bought some jacks for a couple of my granddaughters for Christmas and the quality is just not there. They are made out of plastic! I would like to find the heavier ones made out of puter or some form of tin I guess. It's too bad the good ole things are hard to find now. The only cute paper dolls I have seen have been in cases at Costco and expensive at that. I love your collection of paper dolls!
