NOTE: If you haven't seen the posts in Hogs and Quiches and Prayers Round-Up . . . they lost their house in fire last night!!!

Hey Farmgirls!!
I just talked to Karen on the phone. They are okay . . able to stay at her mom's house who lives across the street.
My hubby and I have gone through this exact same thing . . . so I was able to offer her some suggestions about their recovery plan, going through the insurance process, accepting offers for help, etc., etc.
IT IS OVERWHELMING!!! But you can get through it!!!!

If you are looking for suggestions for how you can help right now.
- They need clothes . . . got out of house with only what they were wearing.
- Karen needs a computer to set up to use at her mom's.
- She homeschools their boys and lost all their books . . so will
need those replaced.

CASH DONATIONS . . . or gift cards to places like Walmart . . are ALWAYS helpful.

I have her address if you need it . . . and I have her cell phone number.
Email me if there is anything else that I can do . .
THANKS FARMGIRLS!!!
CJ

Oh Karen ((((Hugz))))) It is SO good to hear from you! I'm so sorry things are so tough right now, but with farmgirl frugality and ingenuity, I know that you can do it...I know, I'm a world apart, but if there is anything that I can help with let me know...is there a list of things that you need floating around that I've missed?

I dont know if I can type this without crying so if I make mistakes please excuse them. First of all I want you all to know when I joined this forum I never imagined I would have such a great group of sisters!!!!. With all the love and support you all have sent, has been amazing and as CJ has said for me before no way of saying thank you enough!!! I so appreciate every thought , cards, gifts, phone calls and prayers! You all are the best!
Prayers are still need as the insurance will pay the morgage off with 3000 to boot and our contents of the house was over 55k and they will pay 14k so not much to rebuild with. My hubby is self employed and the bank does not want to give us a new loan because I dont work either so that does not help. So everything is up in the air, and is very hard not knowing what our next step can even be. I know God is with us and we will pull thru, so just continue to pray for our family.
I know many have asked what we need or what is still need, I can tell you I still need a 9th grade Science book and if possible test book that goes with it if anyone has any of the such, we use Abeka but at this point anything would be a help. Thank you again for everything I really appreciate everything!!!! and most of all appreciate all of you! Blessings, Karen

Ps. I hope to get a computer soon so I can be back on the farm with you all!

Sherrie,
Thanks for all you're doing . . . and I know that there is no hurry for the beading supplies. Karen is still in the middle of the insurance stuff, cleanup, etc. I do hope that she can find some time to just relax and do something creative.
I believe that she plans to check at Walmart for the charger cord. The nearest one is 15 miles, but they go there frequently.
THANKS AGAIN!!

CJ Walmart should have an "all purpose" AC for digital cameras. I used to have one of those for my very 1st digital (a blazing 1.3 megapix) I'll start gathering the stuff (it's been busy here-preps for dad's cataract this mon...errands galore!)

Sherrie,
Sounds like you have some goodies she can use. Her favorite colors include, browns, reds, oranges . . .
YES, she does have a digital camera. The charger cord was lost in the fire and she is trying to replace that. I don't what kind of camera it is, but she seems to think she would be able to find a replacement cord.

April, I will email you her address. Her boys are 15 and 13. I'm not sure about the homeschool materials.

THANKS AGAIN FARMGIRLS!!!!!

Can I get her address?! I was also wondering what ages her kids are and if she has specific homeschool things she is needing? I'd love to help them out with that.

Sherrie . . . and other Farmgirls

Karen said that the jewelry items were the basic things she made to sell on her Etsy. There were antique items and some beanies, but her grannie makes them so that is the source for those.

So, she said if anyone wanted to help her get some things back on her Etsy . . . BEADING SUPPLIES would be the ticket.

ALSO . . . she says she needs some SCRUNCHIES for her hair. Not the elastic ponytail holders but the cloth SCRUNCHIES. Could also use a barrette or two . . . good holding ones, about 2 1/2 - 3 inches long.

That's it for today . . . we'll be in touch again as I'm getting more information for her.

AND, if any of you want me to communicate anything to her, just let me know.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!
CJ

Yes thank you for keeping us in the loop! Ask Karen what she needs to get the shop going again-or at least make it to where she can sell locally for now. Does she have a digital camera to take pics with? Let me know.......

Hey Farmgirls,

Just talked with Karen again about 4 PM (MST)today . . . she is doing good, her family is doing good. Things are moving along with recovering, however, there are some insurance settlement issues that are causing some frustrations.
She asks that INSURANCE ISSUES BE PRAYED ABOUT for them!

Still no clear direction as to rebuilding, etc. but hopefully that will come soon. More than likely it is related to the insurance issues.

She asks that I communicate for her, again and again, how GRATEFUL SHE IS FOR ALL OF YOU AND FOR ALL YOU ARE DOING FOR HER AND HER FAMILY!!!!

THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!

We'll be talking again tomorrow morning . . . she needs info I have at home (I'm at work right now).
If any of you have any info/questions you wish to pass along, just post to the forum.

Sherrie,
Karen had a variety of vintage items on her etsy shop. She also makes jewelry. I can't recall if there was something else . . . I'll try to remember to ask her.
She lost all of those items in the fire so she "shut down" her etsy shop.

THANKS AGAIN!!!
CJ

CJ, I thought we were a little closer but she said she's a little south of Atlanta. And I am about 120 miles from there. I can't wait to meet her.
