He is a Great Prynes Lab mix, 9 weeks old and 17.6 pounds. So cute and he loves to snugggle, he also loves the Christmas tree! I hope he will be a great do, and that my tree stays up!

I knew about the hips, and vaguely remember about the dew claws. We will have a little toe trimming experience tonight. We just had a brushing session, he wasn't impressed!

The only thing off the top of my head that you might not know and should is that the Pryenes have double dew claws on all 4 feet, so even that he is a mix, he could still have the doubles, you have to watch that the claw does not grow around in a circle back into the toe ( remember the dew claw will not get worn done naturaly like the other toe nails), its very painful if it does, just get him used to having his claws clipped now. The other thing that both breeds can have problems with is hip displaysia.

Oh what a sweet puppy! He is going to be a big one for sure! I bet he will be a great dog for you! The only thing I have heard that is a must with both those breeds is doing obediance training. And it is even more important when you have a large breed dog because they can just do a lot more accidental damage (especially when excited to see someone!)

I wanted a Bernese also, but they are so expensive, and the Rescues require so much. I hope the little guy learns to stay put, our other Lab just leaves the property when I do. And Karen, you are right about the sweet puppy breath!

Hi Carol, Congrats on the baby. We have a Great Pyrenes. I love that dog!! The only thing is, if your pup takes after the GP breed, you may have trouble keeping him on your property. If he stays indoors, that won't be a problem though. We have our whole property fenced with a gate on the driveway, just because of Lily. I have a Bernese Mt Dog also. We love them both sooo much. You couldn't run the Berner out of the yard!LOL
Merry Christmas!

We named him Chief, and he is mostly black, has white feet and legs with black freckles on the legs. And that sweet puppy smell. Any advice on this type of dog, I have heard nothing but good things about this mix. Thanks, Carol
