I use the "Good Skin" skin care products available at Kohl's. I really like those, and makeup wise, I like Merle Norman's creme powder foundation or American Beauty (an Estee Lauder line available at Kohl's) creme powder foundation in a pinch. As a ballerina, I wore pancake makeup constantly for performance and simply can't stand the thought of a "base" or anything remotely heavy on my face. Hate the way it feels! I've thought about those "whipped" foundations, but it just seems like a lot of effort and I'm a 2-3 min. MAX makeup gal...

I stick with tried and true:

concealer: Estee Lauder creme wand concealer. I've used it since I was like, 15.

eyeshadow: usually American Beauty (soft pinks)

eyeliner: Sonja Kashuk at Target. Love the brown one (sable, i think?) Lasts a long time.

mascara: L'oreal. I change between the voluminous and another name that I can't recall. I like the L'oreal products.

blush: American Beauty gel blush.

Sherrie- No I haven't tried any of the skin creams...I am probably going to start the whole anit-aging routine in a few years but I am turning 27 and keep being told I look like I am not even 21 yet so I guess the anti-aging hasn't been a priority yet.

But I really like their make-up. I used to be a MaryKay consultant and I like the Costco mascara hands down better than all the MaryKay stuff. I do like the MaryKay make up but for $20 I can get a whole "starter pack" of the mineral makeup- foundation, bronzer, 2 eye colors and a eye liner plus all the brushes. The thing I really hate about MaryKay is how expensive it is and how much they charge for brushes!

I've been using Burts Bees for skin cleansing and Laranim eyeshadow along with maybelline eyeliner & cover girl mascara. Alee,Costco make up is good,eh? Wondered about that. Have you tried their skin creams (anti aging)?

I'm a Mary Kay gal myself. Haven't had much else in my cabinet or on my face in 8 years since I started.

Mary Kay - except for their mascara. I love their Mineral foundation and bronzer! My only complaint about MK is every time they get product I love and adore, they change the whole line and discontinue items and then you need to buy all need compacts, etc.
OH and I tried their new spf lipbalm, and for me, anyway, it dries out my lips. But all products with petroleum in them do that. The lipgloss is fantastic!

I am a Mary Kay kinda gal. I have tried all other kinds cheaper but I do pay the price. I can't wear alot here because of the humidity it just melt off anyway so in the summer time it is mascara and lip balm. Winter I can wear a cover. I did try Neutromgina foundation and I like that too.

I've used a bit of this and that over the years. I can't use Clinique moisturizer. Every time I do I get great big zits on my face - the kind that hurt! My favorites are definitely Mary Kay for skin care and makeup. I use BeautiControl concealer and eye shadow primer - couldn't live without those. I have used Avon and love the Anew products. I also like Avon's Beyond Eye Shadow wands. I prefer a cream eye shadow to a powder one since I'm older and my eyelids are getting crepey - the cream looks better. It's fun to see what everyone else uses.

I really like the makeup from Costco! I buy their mineral makeup. I really like the fact that when put on dry it give me good coverage but looks like I am not wearing anything. I have even gotten compliments on how natural my make up looks! Then if I want to dress it up a bit you can wet down the powder a little and use it a bit heavier like "normal" makeup. It's minerals so I feel better about having it on my face for hours upon hours.

I use Clarins skin care and foundation and sometimes Mary Kays mineral powder foundation. I'm not picky with color products but my skin care products from Clarins is the best I've ever used! Makes a major difference in my complexion!!! Clarins is pricey but worth it for me!

Mary Kay. I use the make-up and the skin care and every time I've deviated from the routine I've been sorry!!!

Wow after reading all these, I think I realized I'm a total make up snob! I'm an esthetician and I use Avon products. I've tried just about everything but I really like Avon's make up. I love love love the Beyond Eye shadow wands. I swear by the retexturizing peel and Magix facial primer. I have to admit as far as skincare goes, I'm a Burts Bees gal. I have oily skin and the tomato complexion soap is a life saver in the summer. the new acne line is AWESOME. Most other companies go to the extreme on salicylic acid but the Burts line has just 1% so I don't dry out so bad. The best thing about Avon is their return policy. If you dont' like it, or if it looks bad on you, contact the rep. they will exchange or replace no questions asked. As far as foundation goes. I go to Sephora and splurge on Make Up Forever. I will never part from that foundation brand!

Well I was a cosmotologist for quite awhile (from 87 til 08). Sold Mary Kay for awhile and I can tell you a few things from personal experience. I love MK products- my skin never looked better than when I used there basic skincare products. I firmly believe foundation should be worn to protect your skin from the enviroment. You should cleanse and moisturize every night follow your skin type for what your needs are. Never use anyone elses makeup EVER!!! Mascara should be replaced every 3 months. I hate to disagree with anyone that may like these product but Clinique is not very good for your skin. Almost everything I have stated here is against cosmotolist beliefs because these arent professional products but sometimes experience is more more important. Always remember when it comes to makeup less is more!!!!!

I only wear make-up when I'm going to town if even that. I needed some more but thought I would ask on here and see what everyone else uses. What I wear is eye shadow (sometimes), foundation, blush, and maybe a little lip stick, and mascaras. Thats it and it's very light too. Thanks y'all!!

I use Oil of Olay for cleansing and moisturizing. I use Mineral foundation and mineral blush by Avon. I also use a liquid or pressed powder and pressed blush from Revlon. I use natural brushes and about once a month wash in warm soapy water with a mild liquid soap and don't use anything thats over 6-8 months old. I agree that the smile brings out the beauty.

I have to say no matter what you use if you are just starting out start out simple and don't over do it. I agree with Jodi on wishing to find something more natural but they are pricy. I love Clinique and I would suggest getting one of their "make overs" at a counter in a store near you. just be careful cause they are goodsales girls.

I'm very prone to breakouts so I use Mary Kay cleanser, moisturizer and foundation. And I use Avon and Cover Girl eyeshadows, liners and mascaras and I can use their blushes too. I don't wear makeup often, really just for special occasions or every once in awhile when I feel like getting dolled up.

Hello, I use the "Bare Essentials" line along with Mary Kay and Victoria's Secret. Make up is the one part that i do splurge on. I love to put on make up so that is the one place i will spend a little bit more on. I LOVE the Victoria's Secret liquid eyeliner. I love Mary Kay's creme to powder foundation. I use the Bare Essentials powder, blush and glimmer powder. I also use the Eco Tools brushes. They are all natural brushes! I just read my most recent issue of MJF and they featured them in there too! I loved to see that. And, the great thing is that Target sells them, i think i paid 9.99 for my set of 5 brushes. I know they were on sale when i bought them but i think they are still under 20.00 anyways. I hope this helps.

For every day when I'm not going to town and only around the house, I put Clinique moisturizer on and I'm good to go. I'm using up the rest of a bottle that I found while moving. Usually, I use the cheap, generic face moisturizer that you get at Wmart. In the white bottle with a little pump.

For makeup, face makeup is Almay and the rest is CoverGirl or Maybelline (eyelash stuff). I have sensitive skin so can't go with the cheap stuff, except the generic moisturizer.

I'm a Maybelline girl...I'd love to switch over to something natural, but the prices on natural makeup scare me to death! I use their mineral foundation, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, and shadows. I use Avon's lipsticks and nail polishes... I tried Avon's eyeshadows, but they seemed too powdery & smudgy, so I stuck with Maybelline. But their lipstick is excellent. :) And I'm with Jessie...it's the smile that lights up a face...not the makeup. :)

Channah,
I use a variety of different things. I have certain ones that I like certain places..hehe
For liquid and powder foundation, mascara, eye shadow, blush, and lipstick, I use Cover Girl. I have large pores so it gives me good coverage and so far it is the only makeup I've found that has my skin color. I am very fair.
I like Avon's makeup for eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow, and eyeliner. I like their nail polish and lipstick too. Stays on really nice.
I would rather use Naturalistics in all of these, because that brand doesn't feel near as cakey as Cover Girl etc.
Neutrogena has a good facial astringent and I use Noxema to wash my face and get all the makeup gunk off before I go to bed. Gotta keep your skin nice and healthy or no makeup is going to go on well or wear well. ;)

I don't wear makeup everyday, but all of this does get worn when I want to be all "doo-died" up. :D
I have heard the raw minerals from Ulta is really good. My sister uses that and she says it helps with the acne breakouts.
Hope you find some things you like.:D But, most importantly after giving you a peek in my makeup bag, remember, its your smile and heart attitude that makes you the most beautiful!!

hugs,

Jessie
