Posted - Nov 28 2009 : 12:46:47 PM I was browsing through a great library book about vintage linens and I discovered that women used to keep a red handtowel (embroidered of course, with something very cute and the word "lipstick") in their powder rooms for ladies to use for blotting their lipstick. What a great idea for those (like me) trying to eliminate paper towels, kleenex and other disposables from my house. As a fan of bright red lips, I'm going to do this. Thought I'd pass the idea along to all those farmgirls who love their lipsticks.

Posted - Nov 04 2010 : 08:20:11 AM I wish this would catch on! I don;t know how many of my nice light-colored linens my sister has ruined by wiping her bright-red lipstick on at a meal.

Posted - Nov 04 2010 : 05:54:25 AM I love spending time going back through the old posts, and this morning I found this one.
I'd never heard of these before and was wondering if any more of these were made as a result of this thread?
I love vintage and a couple of my daughters do also. My youngest DD was a flapper girl for this past Halloween. I'm going to show this to her.
Love the simple idea for gift giving!

Posted - Nov 29 2009 : 07:28:01 AM Interesting. I googled these. Very pricey for the vintage ones. According to one site, they would even put one at a ladies seat at a dinner party, so she would blot her lips before using the bright white dinner linen. Also they have them much smaller. But you have to search for "handkerchief" to see those. Very cute. I'll have to keep a look out for these as I troll the local antique shops... |

Posted - Nov 28 2009 : 9:38:33 PM I had an even better idea of making hankie size ones to give as Christmas gifts, for my mom and sis to carry in their purses. I think they will love them, especially when I pair them up with a cute shade of lipstick.
