Hi everyone! I will be getting a new family member this week or next. A 7 week old Weimaraner. I'm sooo excited. I have wanted one of these gorgeous dogs for a while. I have a sweet Miniature Schnauzer, and we love him very much. The Weimaraner will get fairly big, they are protective and very loyal. Very smart dogs. My husband works at the County Sheriffs Dept and also is on the road a lot as we own a semi, so he stays busy. I am home alone a lot and I've never been scared before. But lately I have been, as the world gets worse and worse. I have a gun and I know how to use it, and I wouldn't hesitate. We've never had any trouble out here, but you just never know. I live wayyyy out in the country. In the "boonies", is this areas nickname, lol. So, I am going to have my new friend trained when she gets a tad older and we'll take care of each other. I will love exercising with her! I'm thinking on a name. She is a silver color, if you don't know what they look like. I'm thinking about calling her Maddie-Bell, because she looks like Silver Christmas Bells. Anyone else have any names? I love older names, like Chloe, Esther, ect. Thanks for your help!

~~Blessings, Mikki Jo

It is about 7 hours past my bedtime lol Sis and I stayed up talking about Mom, how we miss her. Connie, I had a dog named Grace, I love that name. I like Chloe and Maybelle too. She hasnt had an accident, thank God. And she is doing well. She is in her crate fast asleep. I'm wore out, gonna wind down and try and get some sleep. Goodnight everyone and Happy Thanksgiving.

I like old fashioned names as well. My dogs are Grace & Rachel. I also like the names Hope & Faith. You could also consider Maybelle or MaryJane.

Congratulations on the newest addition!! Love the name and I agree, I think dogs are one of the best protectors of a place. We actually have three dogs (sometimes I think it is too many but we love them all!). Dixie is the 7 year old German Shepherd/St. Bernard mix. She would detor anyone from stepping foot on our place, even though she is a real sweetheart! Buddy is the 2 year old Pomerainian and loves to bark but probably wouldn't do much to an intruder. We recently got an Olde English Bulldogg and she is now 12 weeks old. We named her Weezy for apparent reasons, also because my son loves Toy Story and there is a toy named Weezy on there. These dogs are supposed to be VERY protective. I've always wanted and English Bulldog and the Olde English ones are supposed to be better in health than them.
Well, I got off track, but just wanted to say that dogs are such wonderful pets and friends!

"The Grey Ghost", that is what this breeds nickname is. I had a weim many years ago, her name was "Fly", her registered name was "Fly by Night", and the breeder called her "Tink", as in Tinker Belle, cause she swore she would fly, she was so quick and quiet, just like the breed is supposed to be. By the way, also a great hunting dog.

Congrats on the new puppy. I like your choice for a name. But, Belle is also nice. I'd love to see a picture of her. Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Chloe is a nice non Maggie or Buddy generic name

Congrats! When she gets a little older, you will indeed find her company a comfort. Since this breed is a little iffy when it comes to strangers, you'll be able to have peace of mind.

My dog is a pushover if you throw a ball, but for people she hasn't met (except the FedEx and UPS guy) she sounds threatening. Especially if she is inside and hears an unfamillar car or voice.

I know what you mean. Glad to know you are weapons savvy especially when help is potentially so far away.

Enjoy the puppy year and be sure to take lots of pix!

Congrats. on your new family member! My dog and I "Take care of each other" too. He's eleven years old so we're just like an old married couple!LOL I like the name Addison, or Addie for short. I'm sure she'll be a great friend and watch dog.

Jenny, I had thought of that spelling because it looks more feminine, thanks so much!!!
