Posted - Oct 30 2009 : 8:41:51 PM Being a writer, I like the feel of a real book in my hands. But I have listened to books on tape/CD and it is easier on my eyes! I couldn't read a book that was downloaded on my PC. And I definitely couldn't read a book that was on my cell phone. I just don't have the patience for it. I read five to seven books at a time so I like being able to pick up a book, read a few pages, then read a chapter or two from another book. I guess I'm just old-fashioned--but nothing wrong with that!! Cindy

Posted - Oct 30 2009 : 12:55:25 PM I'm all for it since I read like a fiend. But I'm waiting until they iron out all the kinks and then I'll buy one. The publishing industry has some growing pains with the new technology right now much like the music industry did with file sharing websites. |

Posted - Oct 30 2009 : 12:32:24 PM I have a kindle and I love it. I will not replace my books though. It sure is a lot smaller to take along especially when I am reading a big book like a Diana Gabaldon. I can put it in my purse. I don't have to go to the store or wait for the mail when I want a book it's available in minutes.
Blessings, Sheri

Posted - Oct 30 2009 : 11:58:14 AM I like to read a real book, but I must admit it is nice to go to www.audible.com and download a book to listen to (Even MaryJane's Lifebook read by MaryJane herself!!!) and if you buy one of those Kindle things you can carry around your book with you. I do download quite a few text e-books. In fact I was reading one last night. The only thing with the electronic books- It's much harder to take them and read in the bath tub. I have devised a great way to read books off my laptop in the tub though! I get a long wooden spoon (you know the cheap pine ones that absorb a lot) and when I need to push the page down key I use that, so any moisture from my fingers/arm doesn't get to my computer! LOL

Posted - Oct 30 2009 : 11:38:56 AM I think it is coming. It is not for me. How do you curl up on the sofa in front of a roaring fire with an electronic book? Oh well, that's progress.

Posted - Oct 30 2009 : 10:36:18 AM I think it will happen, just not quickly. there have been books on tapes for many years, cassette then cd. Now you can get them on your PC and sent to those fancy cell phones.
