Okay most of you know that we are finally moved into our new home
My son and I think it is haunted!
We have had so many un explained weird things happened
If it is haunted ; the ghost seem friendly.

(1) when we first moved in Son noticed that things were out of place
He puts things in place; being a perfectionist he has a certain way of doing things
Drives me crazy
then he goes back and they are in a different place or turned wrong

(2) we were in the living room; hubby was not here
We heard my mother in law in the kitchen talking
She wasn't even here !!!

(3) we woke at about 5 am.
We have these smoke dectectors that when they go off a lady comes on yelling fire ! Fire
Hubby checks out the whole house
Thank God no fire.
Scared us all

(4) Hubby and son went to our local Wall- Mart
I noticed the hall bath door shut and the light on
I thought maybe son decided to stay home
I asked him if he was in there and he said Yea
I asked him if he was okay; he said yea
Well.
after a little while
here comes hubby and son walking down the hall
You can imagine my surprised at seeing son there
I told them what happened Son believed me; but not sure about hubby.

(5)
Son and I were in the kitchen; my bedroom door shuts and locks itself.

(6)
Last weekend the wind was blowing really hard at times
we had left our lawn chairs on the front porch
Son had gone to the bathroom
and hubby and I were out in the garage trying to sort out some more things.
Son comes out asking if
hubby had moved the chairs around
We went out and the lawn recliner ; where you lay down in was folded up like you would when you put it away
the regular chair was on top folded , on the one you lay down on
the rocking chair was folded and on top of the heap
they were all pushed across the concreat floor of our porch.
We have negihbors behind us that has young kids ; but we would have seen them
I thought about a deer ; but they couldn't fold the chairs that way
I did hear something out side before son came in the garage ;but didn't think anything about it
We know no one else was around
IF the kids behind us did it ; we would have seen them.

So,
What do you farm girls think?
Is our home haunted?
I love our home ; I am a Christian I do believe in spirits.
IF it is haunted the ghost seem friendly
Before we built
son said make sure we weren't building on Indian burial ground.
Well we thought we didn't
But , now I am not sure
Can't wait to see what you girls think, hugs sheila

oh I totally believe you!

and here is my advice: I am a Christian, so my advice is based on my beliefs. There is this idea that if you call out the name of Jesus all spirits will flee from you. My church is in an old peanut factory and there was a ghost when they bought the building. I guess he died in the building or something. Anyways, he's totally history now, and I've been there way late at night when the building is pitch black and there is complete peace, nothing scary now. Anyways, I was looking up verses for you in scripture to help you out. I have two:

James 4:7 - Submit yourselves then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you
Acts 19:13 - ...They would say, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out."

So, just try saying the name of Jesus out loud when something kooky is happening and see if it stops! I know I always do that when I am scared, and if I'm super scared I sing hymns. And Denise's advice is good to, about talking to a pastor about it. Anyone can pray over your house, but if you feel more compfy with a church member, invite em over!

Sheila,
My husband always prayed over every home we ever lived in before we moved into it. We lived in his grandmom's house for a while and if ever there was a house that could have had spirits that would have been the one. But nothing ever happened there. I believe you should talk to your Pastor or someone like that and see what they suggest. It is possible to bind and rebuke a spirit if you know how to do it.

God is good....all the time.

Wow

That's some crazy stuff going on there.

I'd be freaked.

Since the house is new, I'd check out the history on the land and places surrounding it.

I'm a Christian too. Stuff has happened to my brother in the past a long time ago and I know its stuff he'd never make up.

So glad I haven't bothered to see any scary movies recently.

My folk's old house was an 1800's style Victorian and did harken back to the Civil War Era. It was basically torn back to the 4 supporting walls. Nonthing strange happened there thank goodness. Although we did discover a newspaper clipping in the walls dating back to when the titanic sank.

As a kid I remember going to an Indian burial site that had been uncovered when a new housing development was under construction.

Crazy!@

Be sure to keep us up to date please!

I also used to say "I don't want to see you because I hate being scared, if you want feel free to stay but leave me and my family alone and don't be afraid of the light, it's where you want to be and others are waiting to greet you on the other side" I think some people are just more tuned in to the other side. I was never taught anything about ghosts either, but it makes sence in my book. Plus I know your not the only one who feels this way. I get it more when my DH is on a late night call and I'm home alone, So I will say remember I don't want to be scared especially if I have to get up in the night to use the bathroom. Keep us informed please.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

It's amazing what happens that can't really be explained by science or whatever. I haven't ever really had an experience with a ghost or spirit or anything but the subject intrigues me!

I totally believe you. My house was built in 1940 and the man who built it died soon after he retired. I have a back bedroom that is my craft room, and I swear he goes in there to smoke. I don't smoke and neither does my husband but I smell fresh smoke every once in a while.
Also I worked at a bank that was built a couple of years ago. It was built on propety that had a house on it. The house was tore down and the bank was built right were it stood. A customer who had a son came in and the son said "there is a sick little boy in there". (pointing to the loan officers office)
And wierd things always happened in there. Well they checked into the history of the house and where the office is was once a sick little boys room but he had died along time ago. Weird HuH?

I don't know what to say. I was never brought up to believe that sort of thing, but...

When we moved in here, my hubby and I had quit smoking a couple of years before. Every once in a while, I swear I smell cigarette smoke. I used to go off on my son and his then girlfriend, now wife, about it. He would get all upset and say no, not him. And after thinking about it, he doesn't smoke although he does chew. And the daughter-in-law didn't smoke then, either. They moved out about 2 years ago and we still smell smoke in the kitchen and late at night when we're in bed, upstairs.

Sometimes, if my hands are full and I need to go out onto the laundry porch, the door opens enough for me to get my elbow in and open it the rest of the way.

However, one night I swear I heard somebody come up the stairs and walk over to stand by hubby's side of the bed (closest to the stairs). I was too freaked out to look, so I just turned over and played asleep. The next day I said something about, "You won't believe what happend last night but..." and hubby finished the story. I asked him if he looked and he said no.

The lady across the street said her family used to own all of the property in this area and has never mentioned anything weird going on, so I don't know what to believe.

We've lived here about 5 years, so I'm to the point that if they don't hurt us or tear up stuff and we can coexist, I'm okay. I've never dealt with anything like this, so I believe you and don't know what to tell you other than call TAPS. Jason and Grant should be able to help you.

Shelia, you must be having quite a time there! A spirit can occupy a place but not really be atttached to it. It may have somwhere near your place or on your land that means something to it. Stacking the chairs was helpful to you, and the rest sounds playful, it may be a child. If it keeps up and bothers you, you could try and talk to it and explain you really mean it no harm. Explain if you are frightened or uncomfortable with its presence.
Friends of mine have lived with one for 44 years now, no problems really. He makes himself visable and really just wanders around. If you need to, have the house blessed. Spirits are usually those who are not ready yet to cross over. Some feel they are not finished here or that they are in need of closure. It can be a bit unsettling to have things like that going on. You don't sound afraid though. That is good.Keep us posted.

I still have spirts in my house but they don't bother me. At night you can hear them but as soon as you leave the bedroom the noise stops. I have always brought Holy water and sprinkled a little in every corner in every room asking for peace and happiness to fill the house. My ex woke up one morning apolizing to me after he saw the ghost and he could not move. I had told him before if it ever happened all he had to do was say anything. He said Diane I'm sorry. He was scared, I laughed.

I believe you when you say there is a spirit causing all these weird things. Also, they're bound to be most active this time of year. If it continues to bother you, maybe do a house blessing, led by someone who has experience in expelling spirits. Many priests in the Catholic, Greek Orthodox, and Episcopal Churches have done house blessings/cleansings. Even if it seems friendly now, it can change and become more mischievous. I don't like these kinds of spirits, so If it were me, I'd contact a priest.

The land may have lingering spirits on it. They just need to be told to go to the light. Let them know you love the land and your house. I love your post.

Okay, here I go.....the first house I lived in here in North Florida was a rental, situated on the last high hill before the flood plains of the gulf make the land flat. It had once been Indian land. I had so many things happen to me (I could make this a LONG post) in that house that when I read about yours, I was thinking to myself, Yeah, I totally understand! I always chalked it up to coincidence or not noticing on my part, but one of my extremely sensitive friends stopped coming to my house because of her discomfort. And one of the times she did come, her little boy played in the back yard and was attacked by wasps. She said there was an Indian female who haunted the place......

The year I lived there, my first marriage broke apart. It was a bad year.

This is a great week-end to share these stories!

Since this is a newly built home ; no one has died in it yet
About someone being buried on it
On the part where the house was built
There is no one buried.
Unless they were buried really deep
Deeper than the foundation of the house
thanks . hugs sheila

Maybe it is haunted. Did anyone die there? Was anyone buried on the land? Let us know if there is any more things happening. Interesting, to me. Marly

A new house would not be attached to a spirit, unless part of the house was used, i.e., re-used wood floors, cabinets etc. If you got new furniture for the new house, antiques maybe, the spirit could be attached to it. As far as the ground, a native American burial ground, the spirits would not be pranksters, they would be at least annoyed and at most very angry. Since what you are describing is a prankster, all you have to do is in a loud firm voice, say" Stop", and they will usually quit. Another thing you can do is have the house blessed, or do a cleansing.

It would be fascinating to know what the history of the property is. This is the time of year when the "viel between the worlds" is at it's thinnest. So you may be having more activity now than at any other time of year. Was there another home there before you built the new one?

Very interesting Shelia! Maybe the halloween spirit is extra active at your place this year. Maybe say outloud something to the effect of that you want to be a peaceful and respectful tenant of the house and that you hope whomever shares the area with you will welcome you into their area as well. Maybe say it when you or just you and your son are around if hubby is skeptical. If nothing is there and it is just odd coincidences with a new house then no harm-no foul. If there is something there maybe it will be reassured.
