Has really gotten me motivated and back on track to where I was headed before the move to TN!! Thanks...I believe things happen for a reason and this is were I am being lead right now. I am off to organize my pictures that have been sitting in a box of disaster for 2 years while I figure out what to do with them. I am also going to do a quick DONATE box...I must put at least 10 things in there by Friday to donate. Anyone want to join me???

Thanks for the inspiration. Keep up the posts!!!

Heather, I am going to be literally loading up my Jeep when I go to town on Saturday with stuff to drop off at Salvation Army thrift store!!

Diane, I think that there are some things that were just meant to be kept, and other things that just have to go!

Annika- That's not cheating at all! That is EXACTLY what de-cluttering is for! Besides, if you get back down to those sizes- don't you deserve some new clothes? You are doing AWESOME! Way to go!!

I'm trying and this thread is helping me. Plus with less I can find things easier. Except I got rid of some material I now wish I had but I hope who ever got will use it. I really need to get better at giving things away, I see some things and say but so in so gave it to me. Some things I've had for 25 years that the kids in the neighborhood gave me. I'm having a hard with those. One boy Doug stopped over and said I can't believe you still have this, I will get better, I must. Keep encourging me.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

What a great Christmas wish........a clean and tidy house. I'd like a house cleaner person to boot. Arthur ritis moved in several years ago and many other ailments and I find that hard to do now. After a certain time, when you acquire grandma's stuff and mom's stuff and your own stuff, it's time to be rid of stuff.Where did all that stuff come from anyway? Kids stuff, hubbys stuff, pet stuff, sports stuff, cooking stuff, sewing and crafting stuff. Maybe we could make a sofa and fill it with all that stuff and just relax...lol

I'm horribly embarrassed by just how MUCH junk and clutter I have, and this much was just the first go-through-sorting of my clothing and shoes, but here goes so far...I've got three bulging garbage bags and so far around 12 (and counting...!) plastic storage bins of stuff to get to the thrift..I'm cheating because the majority of what is in the bins is size 5/6 clothing that I haven't worn in a few years and not going to fit into any time soon, but I'll be free of it all!!!!! Now to start in on the rest of my junk! All I want for Christmas is a clean and tidy house!

Now I need to rent a small moving truck to get it to Goodwil

I have a bag of clothes I need to take to Goodwill and some books (much harder to part with the books than the clothes). I do have a problem though: What to do with my old exercise ball (you know, the big ones that you inflate and then do exercises with). It came with a videotape (does anyone have VCR's anymore--besides my parents?LOL).

I cleaned out my laundry room, linen closet, bedroom, front closet and I think the house tipped over sideways. Next the kitchen cupboards. Hope to get through the buffet with all the dishes, candles, etc. How much of that stuff do two people need anyways. Gave a lot to charity because most of my unneeded stuff was in good condition. My goal is not to bring anything back (lol). We packrats have a terrible time down-sizing. Good for all you farm-girls doing the same thing. What about the shed, the barn, the garage, etc...........Have fun!

I have been downsizing for the past 4 yrs. I am a reformed pack rat. My Mother was one, so is my sister. Now my DH and I live in a very small house. But that is ok...what else we have is more important. We have 10 beautiful acres. So the house being small is no big deal. I just gave 3 33 gal trash bags to a neighbor to go through and see what she wanted. She gave me back 1...so I am going to donate it to a local church. Next is a shed we have on the property I need to go through. I have so many boxes full of Chrstmas decorations. And Halloween decorations. So this weekend I am going through them and giving them away. It feels so good to get rid of clutter and stuff you dont even use, or havent used in a few yrs.

I just took a HUGE bulging out the top garbage bag full of clothes and things to the thrift shop. I picked up some really cute curtains for $5 that will be PERFECT in my bedroom and a cute little shirt for Nora and a pajama set for free! They are such sweeties there! I am getting rid of BULK of stuff and only bringing back necessities and or things that REALLY fit with the house decorations!
