Has anyone ever gotten into such a routine that you don't even think about what you are doing? Like for example, when you go out to feed chickens and your husband is in there putting insulation in the windows, you feed them walk out and lock the door behind you and go in the house??? Then later wonder why in the world he hasn't come into eat and go out and (unlock) the door without thinking and ask what is going on????? I hate to admit it but the later was about an hour. Thank the good Lord my hubby loves me and saw humor in it.

I locked myself in the chicken coop with my three yr and 1 yr. grandaughters on the outside, the string broke and the three year old could not open door, so i had to crawl through chicken door with shorts on getting pooh all over me to the cheers of the girls saying you did it grandma!

Denise, isn't it one of those things where you can say, "I am my mother's daughter"? I really don't like a lot of things my mother used to do, but when the PA today remarked about how I was "color coordinated" it really rang a BELL. Ding, Dong!!

Yep I understand totally. I just locked my husband out yesterday. I thought it was funny that someone was knocking at the garage door and there he was. I had to turn away before I started laughing in his face though. This wasnt the first time I had locked him out but the first time he was just outside in the garden. He says I dont listen to him...hmmm. I must take after my mother in having those mother ears that kind of block out everything after a while...lol :)

Our dogs lock us out of the car so often we just leave the key in the car door. Same thing for the house, dogs can have a weird sense of humor...Thankfully, we live in the woods where there is little chance of intruders

Let's not talk about locking yourself out of cars... *blush* LOL Yup! I have done that too!

I locked myself out of my car plenty of times. 2 weeks ago I did it again. Lucky for me my DH was in the area and he carries a spare key to my car so he could help me out.
I also drive a lot of times to my own home 30 miles away from (our) home and plenty of times I would drive through 3 towns before I even realized it. (and I think I'm a good driver)
Good thing we don't lock our doors until it's bedtime and everyone is inside.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Thank you Rae, that was so funny I was smiling all night. Now where could I lock my
Dh for a hour? Toni

Rae, it sounds like you are doing TOO much. Besides your teaching and the new farm, take just 10 minutes to relax girl. My husband has locked ME out of the house and because his hearing is so bad I had to go to the neighbors and call him. Now there's a sheepish look. I's happened twice. Now I carry a key always.
Take it easy.

How funny! I agree with Julie that may not be such a bad "mistake" sometimes. There are times I could leave mine in there all day. I would get sad and go get him later though! :)

Oh, Rae, that is priceless! I'm thinking that might be a good idea -- lock dh in the barn the next time he's being particularly disagreeable!

hehehe...at least you could get back in is the important part. I am a bad culprit for locking mine in the car.
My poor drivers side door doesn't shut right anymore for having to pry the lock open. ;) My chores always change, but I can understand the routine. Like when I wash the dishes and put the soap away but put it in the fridge instead of the cupboard. OH yes!! All the time..lol

Rae, I could do all my chores with my eyes closed! It's all so much habit I do the same thing every day. All in order, too. Feed cats and dogs first, then chickens and roosters, then go get a flake of hay for my cow babies, then get goats, milk them, get hay for them, check on dogs to see if they ate the food, not the chickens. Come in have coffee, go back out, check for eggs. Water them all. Every day. Same ole, same ole. I was just thinking about this today when I was getting up. And hubby is only here every other weekend,so he's just an "added chore" for me. I do sometimes forget he's here, though!

I have locked my hubby out...of the house... the car. Its my habit when I am in to lock the door right behind me. My husband however is lucky to close the door behind him.
