Hey, girls,
don't know if this is the place to post this but it seems usually the most popular just for 'general' things... and I need some opinions...
The last three or four days I've been experiencing severe dizzy spells when I get up out of my chair or from the bed, and I get to where I almost want to pass out or faint.. I really feel vertigo or sort of almost feeling like "blacking out" .. I also will feel a flush or hot feeling then cold and back again .... I will also experience feeling nauseated (nice way of putting it for lack of better words), and now I feel low, low energy ... out of breath ... and when I get the really dizzy passing out spells.. my heart rate goes up ... I've been trying to do anything I can... thinking maybe I didn't eat enough.. I feel like I am not getting enough vitamins(?) so I have been doing that... thought maybe I am fighting something? Though I don't exactly feel sick ...I have been seemingly feeling some sinus maybe? Not sure... I have low blood pressure, and have experienced dizzy spells getting up from wherever before..so it's not totally foreign to me...but not on this level! The nausea comes and goes... not I haven't 'lost' anything yet, if you know what I mean..
I do feel more hungry ... and my appetite hasn't disappeared...

Any thoughts on what you girls think this is? just really low blood pressure? sinus problems? ...or something else? The almost wanting to 'black out' is scaring me a little....

Well, I think we have all definitely shown that we care very much about you, Brooke. ;) I know that you will find your answers the best way you can, and that all things work together for them that love God. I am praying that God will keep you in His watchcare and that you find out what it is you need to know. I'd love to say I have a really great answer, but I'm no DR and so as much as I would love to offer some awesome advice, I really don't have a clue. ;)

Keep us all updated when you can and know we all love you and are hoping the best!!
hugs

I see this sometimes at work the thing that we stress is to drink lots of fluid. Dehydration happens fast and stress can make it worse. So Try cutting out caffine and incressing your water intake.

Brooke, I am with everyone else, get to the doctor! If you have low blood sugar, one of the best things is an orange or raisins! Low blood sugar can make you dizzy and out of it, but usually you can feel it coming on! I will be praying all is well!

Another vote for the doctor, Brooke. And let us know. We want to know that you're gonna be okay (and whether or not we have a reason to celebrate with you! Never fear, we'll help you through the crazy times!)

I have had something like this as have other friends.

Inside our inner ear there are balancing stones and hairs

Sometimes if a stone gets stuck it causes this vertigo.

If you go to a dr. they can prescribe an anti nausea drug and show you exercises that will dislodge the stone

Sometimes a day of doing nothing but bed rest can help

Well, I always use peanut butter. I was talking from self experience with hypoglycemia not diabetes. I feel an immediate lift. I keep glucose for clients at my office and it does take that for the diabetics that go low. But I keep a jar of peanut butter on the shelf in our storage room just for when I have not had time to eat right and my hypoglycemia kicks in. I actually just get a spoon and suck it into my mouth and let it melt and it lifts right then.

You are right though it has been working for me for 30 years or so as I have had this problem since my early teens. It hurts nothing to try it.

um............peanut butter is what they used to tell us a long time ago. About 30 years ago. For the last 10 years, they say not pb, if you have a low it takes too long to get the carbs into the blood stream because of the protein and fat.

However, once your blood glucose starts to rise again, THEN it is a great idea to have some peanut butter to stabilize it from there.

BTW, the pb info, that I just gave comes from Dr. Guffry. He's a Endo, that's been doing diabetic research for the past 30 some odd years. I was in his first study of diabetes and diet control. And back 30 years ago in that first study he did tell us to use peanut butter.

But, then about 10 years ago, he told me research had shown a bit different, and that pb was for after it was already on the way up. Not to raise it, when it's too low already.

You are describing several of the symptoms for hypoglcemia. Youcan check this next time you feel that way to get a good little spoonful of peanutbutter and let it melt in your mouth. It does not have to be digested and assimilates right from the mouth. You should see a difference in just a few minutes.

Brooke, I have the Sunclick Health Assessment I can email and you can answer just to get a good idea. It is designed by an alternative friendly MD and it is his intake form. It is pretty good.

Not to sound panicky, but I would say hustle yourself to the dr asap-and don't drive yourself. If you have insurance,a lot of providers have a nurses hotline you can call & tell them your symptoms & help you out. Sounds like you really need to get this checked out.

my husband just found this amazing (but old) book for me on hypoglycemia and I've been reading it all day. maybe you can get it on amazon for cheap!

but the main point is to take all refined sugars including table sugar, sweets, and white flour, which is even found in most whole wheat breads out of your diet. I'm starting my hypoglycemic diet tomorrow. The major downer of the whole thing, according to this book at least is that for like the first 3-6 weeks of your change in diet your symptoms are ussually worse and then they get better and eventually clear up totally.

I've ben hyplogycemic my whole life and I've tried changing my diet but no one has ever told me it gets a lot worse before it gets better, so I always quit! Who knew! Anyways, try your Dr, get a second opinion and read, read, READ!

Here's the name of this book: Hypoglycemia: The Disease Your Doctor Wont Treat ISBN: 1558171630

Are you running fever? Pain on lower right side could be your appendix and some of the things you have mentioned could be caused by blood poisoning if it has burst. PLEASE see a dctor!

Hyperglycemia (technical name for Diabetes).

If you are Hypoglycemic, you need to be on a strict diabetic diet, so that you do not become diabetic. If you don't work on being on a good diet, it will over work your pancreas. Because it is already very fast (too fast) that is why you are hypo.

I used to be hypo till my pancreas wore out and now I'm a diabetic.

You should ask your dr for RX's for a glucometer, strips, and lancets. If he doesn't most companies offer free glucometers if you buy their strips. Most come with a lancet device with a few of the lancets, you will have to buy lancets to refill it. The best lancet device out on the market today though is by Accucheck, that coincidentally is a American made product/company-most are from Europe right now. IF you buy a Accu-check meter it will come with a Accucheck device. Otherwise, you can by the device separately for about 15 dollars from any drug store/pharmacy.

The main thing is you can't be guessing around if your blood glucose is low or not.

A very little known fact, more diabetics, die from LOW blood glucose then high. You can go into a coma from low glucose, and it's much harder to recover then from a high. In fact if it gets to a certain low, you may have to go to the hospital for IV glucose, to save your life. But, at the very least if you had a meter you could monitor it and keep glucose tabs (can be bought over the counter at any drug store) to rise your blood glucose quickly, THEN you can move on to a snack. The thing with glucose over snacks is, if you are way low a snack may continue to lower your bg for a while, and not be as quickly effective as you need it to be, as it has other things other then carbs in it (protein, fat, etc) that slows down it's ingestion time, and therefor slows down the time it gets into your blood stream. Where the tabs hit your blood stream in around 15 minutes or less! Once it starts to rise again (and you would know this by testing your bg with a meter) then you can go on with snacks. The general rule of thumb for a low bg is 15 carbs, every 15 minutes till the bg begins to rise. (again every 15 minutes you would be checking your bg to see where it's at).

Any way, I've felt these exact same things with low bgs. But, usually they were EXTREMELY low. Like low 20's. When your BG should be around 70-80. (BTW, once your bg gets down to a certain level you're dead........that's it, your body can't live).

No, I didn't know I had to.. the stupid doctor I had gone to when he told me..didn't do anything about it! He didn't tell me a thing to do. I had to sort of learn on my own. Hyper? Hyperthyroidism?? Or is there hyperglycemia too? I had been doing very good about my hypo for about a year!

Have you been taking your blood sugar.

Hypo and Hyper can both cause this. And if you aren't diligent with your hypo, it can eventually turn to hyper.

So have you been checking your blood glucose when this happens?

Brooke, I too think that you should get a complete blood panel done. Just to be sure. Hope that everything is okay.

wow, just the thought of being pregnant is going to have you constantly thinking about until you know for certine.

aside from the appetite thing, i get that way with sinus', even if i dont have the pain. i also just had a temporary bug for a couple days, it started in my stomach and then i was just dead dog tired for a couple days. for the most part ive been better but short of breath some. though i have other issues with that.

sadly, i think you have too many options right now. and the only way is to have them elimnated one by one. but in the chance you are preggers make sure you bring it up so they dont put you on any meds.

good luck hun, hope its nothing serious.

Karen ^_^

Brooke, I would say its time for some blood work, have a complete panel done, and if you are not PG, then at least the Dr can figure out whats going on.

That's really interesting! Yes, my husband has been a bit concerned and making sure I don't fall or pass out. I haven't passed out or anything but when it happens - I have to sit down or kind of lower my head (my mom always said to do that if I feel like fainting..) .....Viral Vertigo?? What is that?? That is weird your daughter had it and have been hearing that from other girls.... I'm baffled! It's not CONSTANT... it stopped last night when I made myself some beef stew and then it was back again this late afternoon ... it does seem to hit me more in the afternoon evening.... I thought yesterday maybe it was that I was low on iron ....
