I made peach jelly to give and for my aunts who are in there 80's I also give them all occasion cards with the forever stamp on each envelope. They still like to write they won't even try the computer.

I went to big lots today and for $5. they had smoke alarms that you use in a light socket then you put the light in it so it's still a light it's suppose to even work with the light off. If my DH approves of the I'm going back for more. They don't have the carbon oxiode ones and they are very important, this is just and extra for the garage area.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

I love knitting too, and have several more pair of socks to knit for my older sons and their girlfriends. I will be knitting ski masks for the boys and socks or mittens for the girls too. I love the gifts in a jar and should do some of those this year too. I have been working on christmas gifts the past couple weeks already. One up-side to being home recovering from knee surgery is more time to get projects done (and no guilt about it!!) I will be making the usual matching pajamas for my 4 kids still at home too. But...I tend to do those last minute..I am working on the gifts that have to be mailed to the grown kids and other relatives first.

There are craft books that are made for giving gifts in a jar (usually canning) what goes in the jar are the dry ingredients for cookies,or perhaps a soup. Attach a recipe card to it & you've either given dessert or a meal. You can decorate the lid to be an adorable storage container after!

check etsy.com you can find lots of fun/inexpensive gift items there if you are crunched for time on creating your own.
also the current issue of STL at www.stliving.net has an article on "gifts from the pantry" that might get you started on a few ideas.
