Posted - Sep 28 2009 : 1:51:04 PM In my seven years of being a teacher I have never had a kid puke in my room, on me, on other students in my room etc...until today! I teach kids in k-12 (art teacher) and I constantly preach to my little kids about where the trash cans are and that if your gonna throw up its okay to run to the bathroom, you dont need permission to puke and so on. Well low and behold it WASNT a little kid! It was a SEVENTH GRADER!!!!! I figured that by that age you could tell when you are going to be sick. This kid acted fine the whole class, never once said she didnt feel well but started pukeing EVERYWHERE. She kept turning and got it all over the floor and TWO other students. OH MY it was gross! I cant handle vomit at all! Even fake vomit noises make me sick. I had to leave the room. It was horrible and I felt bad for the kid but AHHHHHHHHHHHH! Makes me wish I could just stay home!
Thanks for letting me get that all out!

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 7:53:35 PM I'm learning that I have compassion but not so much a sensitive stomach...but I'm trying to overcome that because a nurse must have a good tummy to take care of the stuff they see...but to be honest with you I'd probably would have ran too! :)

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 05:14:01 AM Oh that's so bad!
I would have gone straight home and no way could have gone back to the classroom.
I can handle ALL kinds of animal stuff, but when it comes to human,, it's the worst.
Bad thing is, if this is the stomach bug, pretty much the whole room is contaminated and everyone who came in contact w/ it.
So sorry for all invloved |

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 04:38:37 AM Mercy, Julie! That is just too much! Just try not to think about it! It's what I do -- my dh and son can't handle it either, and I'm always the one having to clean it up! I am SO sorry you had to deal with that!

Posted - Sep 28 2009 : 10:39:29 PM I used to get sick without warning and once puked while driving my car (couldn't pull over). Turns out I had gallbladder disease and didn't know it. After they took out my gallbladder, I haven't had to worry about it. I can't stand to hear someone getting sick either. since I work at a hospital, I sometimes hear things that set me off. I'm not as sensitive to it as I once was, but I'm glad I don't work directly with the patients. It is kind of overwhelming when you're not expecting it. cindy

Posted - Sep 28 2009 : 5:27:30 PM Totally understand where you're coking from Julie. I can not handle vomit either. BLUCK!!! Whenever the kiddos are sick I always make sure they have a bucket and a clear path to the bathroom. I even leave the bathroom light on at night just for them. My oldest has the flu right now, but thank goodness the vomitting part is not so bad this round.

Posted - Sep 28 2009 : 4:36:50 PM I know what you mean. How could a 7th grader not realize they were going to vomit? But sadly there are alot of people out there who apparently don't have a clue. I worked with a gal that was in her late 20's and she puked going down the staircase one day. No warning, no nothing, just blaaaaaahhhhhh down the stairs. Now come on she surely had warnings!
At least you didn't have sympathy vomit and start puking right along with her! Go take several long hot showers and wash your clothes a few dozen times.

Posted - Sep 28 2009 : 3:44:45 PM Oh my stars, I would of done the same thing. Puke is one thing I can not handle, even my sons knew they had better make it to the toilet or they would be the one's cleaning up the mess. My friends daughter was on a school bus across the boarder and started the hour plus ride home when one kid set off a chain reaction almost every kid started to throw up. They had to put their heads out the windows for fresh air. Yuck Thank God for janitors.
Hope all your days are Sunnydays. dianebcarterhotmailcom.blogspot.com |

Posted - Sep 28 2009 : 2:25:53 PM Oh bless your heart and the other students and I feel so sorry for the girl too. I know she was probably so embarrassed. I am like you if someone pukes or I even hear it I start getting sick. I have to really fight from not getting sick myself. Sure hope the rest of your week is great and makes up for a bad Monday!
