As a kid, at least once during the summer one of us kids would step on a nail, and more than once we would step on a bee. I go barefoot all the time. My feet are termially dirty all summer. Nice and calloused to be able to walk on rocks without flinching, but today...
I stepped out my back door and a rusty nail embedded into the side of my foot. I had someone at the back gate bringing me fire wood so I needed to hurry. I went to pull the nail out and it wouldn't come. I had to yank it, only to find the tip flat and jaggity. I thought I was going to throw up. And you guessed it, my tetnus shot was past due and I had to go to the Dr. for a shot. What a fun way to start the weekend.

For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today.

Hee, hee, Debbie. Sounds like something I would think of too.

I only put nail polish on my toes, never wear it on my fingers. My toes are accessorized with a couple toe rings, I guess I like my feet better than my hands.

Anyone that knows me, knows I stay barefooted from March 21st until October 31st...except when I got to town or to work. I've even asked my hubby to expose my bare feet in my casket...cuz everyone that knows me will get a final laugh from me!

I've always been a barefott kinda gal. And out on the farm, when I couldn't go barefoot, I would wear sandals. Well, that is, until I forgot I was wearing them one day, went to feed, and, you guessed it, got stepped on by one of the cows. Didn't break it, just scraped it down the side of my toe. So, it's boots or tennies from now on! Still, Julia, I've gone the rusty nail route, and I think that's still worse than being cow stomped! I'm glad your getting better!

Brenda Kay, I really love to go barefoot inside the house, but that is how I broke my foot...oh oh oh oh. I hate shoes and socks but have no choice. Oh well I had many years that I went barefoot before diabetes. Good luck all..

My foot is much better today, though with starting school, I had to be in shoes all day. Being that it is at a long care facility, we aren't allowed to were sandles. My poor piggies! Soaking my boo-boo foot now. Ahhh. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes~

I really hate shoes and I too wear sandles if I can't go barefooted...even in the snow! If it's over my ankles, I wear boots to work, then change into my sandles (LOL). I do wear lace up boots when around the livestock, though...

I was thinking about this post this afternoon. I was leading Nora and Tala up a dried up river bed and Tala stepped on my foot. All I could think was "I sure am glad I had shoes on!" I love going barefoot but I am such a wimp when it comes to pain!

I have stepped on nails in my barefeet and even with my sneakers on, it's not fun. The last time I went to the dr she said I needed a tetnus shot. I told her the next time I stepped on a nail I would come in and get it. She said ok and I thought yeah! then the nurse came in and said we don't wait and gave me my tetnus shot. I feel your pain, but better safe than sorry.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

That sounds too painful...But if you find out you are a diabetic--DON'T go barefoot! A diabetic does not heal like a normal person and the wound could cause a life-threatening infection. Take good care of your feet. Sounds silly, But you'll want to use them all your life! Good healing.

Me either. I even go outside in the rain with barefeet. I even wear sandles in winter, cuz it's better than having to wear shoes, and as we mostly have rain, it works for me. Now with having to go to work, and having to wear shoes all the time, yikes!, my poor feet!

Praying that no further problems arise from that nasty nail. My feet are so hardend from going barefoot that lotion does not help! It only makes my feet slippery! But I will never stop going barefoot.

Been soaking it off and on today, and in between propping it up. It feels pretty good right now. Thanks for all the well wishes, and Anna, yes on the ibuprofen!

This morning both are sore and swollen. My daughter and I have plans to go to the fair tomorrow with family. I guess I soak it and keep off of it as much as I can today.

No, Alee, it didn't break off, the tip because of the jaggity edges didn't allow for a smooth pulling out. I guess it caught on the skin.

Ahhhh!

The pain!

both for your foot and for the tetanus shot too

Hope you heal quickly!

As a kid as soon as schol was out ,the shoes came off. Oh the memories and stubbed toes!

Oooo Ick Julia! That makes my stomach all squiggly and weird! Did the nail break off in your foot? Is that why the tip was all flat and jagged?
