Hey girls.
So tell me - any of you married to farmers? A year and a half ago, I married my farm boy,Kevin. I was a country girl before; I did a garden and have always been into horses and horse showing, etc. The closest thing I did to "farming" as pick up hay in the hayfield once a year.
Now I am a farm wife; living in a farmhouse on a farm. My husband was born and raised on a huge farm in Michigan; raised by his grandfather, who was raised by a farmer..... a long line of farmers on huge tracts of land there in Mich. They raised hay, crops, livestock - all of it.
My husband lives it and breathes it. He is happiest in the fields on his biggest tractor; he does it all and seems to know everything there is to know.
Anyone else a farm wife with a die hard farming husband?

My hubby grew up around the copper mines in Arizona, his dad a welder and sheet metal man. However, his mom grew up on a HUGE ranch in Arizona and Bill spent a lot of time on their ranch helping with the cattle. He is now the proud owner & "rancher" for a llama & 3 Longhorn heifers, 2 of which just had calves. But he is also a high class woodturner & knifemaker. He tends the garden...sort of a farmer.

My husband is a computer guy, sits at a desk all day. He loves to go hiking, but he doesn't hunt or fish, and doesn't eat meat. We finally settled for 3 acres because it's enough to have my few animals on, and not too big that I need help to take care of it. He doesn't mind my being a farmgirl as long as he doesn't have to get involved! We also only live about 4 miles from the 40 acre farm where I grew up so I spend a lot of time there too! It works for us....

Not me, my poor DH is allergic to animals. I'm surprised he even eats meat. He loves animals and never goes past a donation jar without putting money in for them. But he has to keep his distance from them.

OH you betcha!
Dean and his family were farmers for many generations. His grandmother was a serious canner too.
We bought the family homestead and will have it paid off end of next year YEA!!
These days Dean mostly does farming as a way to be outside and piddle around in the garden. We have 6 areas for crop rotation. All are big enough for a tracor to tend.
We sell some produce with watermelon being the main money crop in summer, and collards to sell in winter.
Two years ago we planted 600 little collard plants. BOY what a job.
Last year and this we whittled it down to a paultry 300, plus some broccoli and cabbage
I wouldn't have it any other way

My husband grew up visiting and working on his grandfather's mini ranch. He hated it because it was forced labor. I am hoping to change his mind about farms and such. But at least he is supportive of my dreams and goals! And occasionally I can talk him into some grunt labor! :D

Right now, we're city folks, but I've ALWAYS been a farmgirl at heart. Hubs grew up on a small cow farm, and his parents still live there. His dad and grandfather were farmers, and one day, I'm sure we'll be taking over the family farm. :) Until then, we'll be looking to rent in the country once we move from where we're at right now. He's a law man at the moment.

I married the farthest thing from a farmer LOL! My DH tolerates our critters (but doesn't complain about the yummy eggs and the "happy" pork). He is a hunter, though, and does appreciate homemade jerky, sausage, and cook cooking. I agree that if he's doing his thing, it makes for a pleasant guy...also lets me (and my girls) do our thing.

Hello Hosanna,
My husband is a logger from a long line back as well. Matter of fact all the men in my family are to. Yep, he lives and breathes it to. Our tractors are a little different but, he would be on one rain, sleet or snow. That is why I'm a country/farm girl. I have my gardens, my chickens, my crafts and I do my thing most of the time in the summer. A friend used to tease me that during the summer I should paint myself Caterpillar yellow and then maybe he would notice me. I'm thrilled that he is able to do what he loves it makes for a much more pleasant guy. I've found that he thinks it's a little "sexy" when I go to the woods with him and drive the tractors or the watertruck. Men are so dang cute aren't they!!!!
