What is that one thing that inspired you to start REALLY living your life your way??? I am trying to compose a blog about it and I need some inspiration.

Heather

What makes ME tick? Knowing that I live my life totaly honest, I raised my kids to be that way also. I do/would give my ALL for my family. I live as close to mother earth as possible, always have and always will.

it's hard for me still living my life "my way"... i still feel there is so much pressure for me to do something "big" in life, especially from some of my family members. there's also that pressure from society on women nowadays to have some big fancy career (there's nothing wrong with that, but if it's not for me, it's not for me) but i discovered after moving to wyoming that i couldn't handle such a fast paced, stressful life like that. it was enough for me just to finish my measly associate's degree. i didn't like feeling stressed all the time, didn't like not having time to relax or spend time with the hubby. i also found a huge value in hard manual work at home... i couldn't keep up my home the way i want and have a career at the same time. so basically i just found that it was better for me as a person to live "old-fashioned" than to try and keep up with the fast paced society as it is. i felt better just slowing down and doing things my way. i didn't want to apoligize for not having a career, though i still feel bad about it, like something is wrong with me... but maybe i shouldn't feel bad about it - it is so "me" to be a country gal!!!

Buddha said "Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it"
My work has always been music, and the hardest years of my life was when I either bought into others plans for my life (making $$ from music? Are you nuts?? sort of thing) or when I went thru one of my desert periods of not playing music at all. Some of which went for 2-3 years at a time. What finally got me on track which has been very recent was a few different things. One has been reading and applying Dr Wayne Dyers "The Power of Intention" and practicing Japa meditation, another has been realising I'm 46 and where did all the time go? Recently a co worker who was very much loved committed suicide, leaving behind 2 daughters and a wife. That really emphasized the importance to me of living life your way and how crucial it is to not only being truly content within, but being able to make your way thru life and enjoying the trip.
The God/dess has given me the strength to endure the harder years while giving me time to wake up to the fact I am a co-creator of my present reality & becoming responsible for it. (I'm Druidic) I know there isn't a single answer here, but all the things mentioned above gave me the inspiration and the hutzpah to live life my way. (As does being a recently converted farmgirl!)

When I met Jesus in a rice patty in South Korea. I knew at that moment the most important thing to Him was my personal relationship with Him. Not a building, not a preacher, not a book, not being really good, just spending time with only Him. Then learning it did not have to be OK with everyone else. Just Him and me.

Spending time in Bible Study
and with God
Being Still , and knowing He is God
I get my poems and writings from His word and listening to that "Still small voice"
Since we are moving to the country on our small farm;
I am getting "In tune with nature" too.
I had a poem / song come to me this past Wed. night
I can write the words; I can hum the notes/
I play the piano;but I cannot write music
I am hoping to find something on line that I can learn to write my own music. hugs sheila

when I figured out why I was so miserable. It was because I had been living other peoples dreams and trying to make everyone elses life perfect.Thinkimg I had to make everyone else happy before I could be happy.Well it truly hit me that you are never going to make everyone else happy or make all their dreams come true, its impossible and all you do is lose your own true sense of who you are and what you are and what you need. Nothing is worth losing my true sense of who I am.My byline at the bottom says a lot to me.

Hey Heather. I've had a couple of "moments" if you will. In HS I was pushed/pulled into vocal music... The expectation was really high that I would do something professionally in that arena. But I really wanted something different and did not have the confidence to take on that uncertainty. I was a "hugger" and a trainer for Special Olympics and I knew that working with kids with disabilities was where I needed to be. It still took me some time to fully "plant" there but I did. Later it was a divorce that helped give me the push I needed to get back in the swing of things..again...towards my goal of a teaching certificate. The death of a VERY good friend, kept me on that path...although ironically, it also nearly made me quit my teaching job and head out of MI. THAT was a toughy. Then I had a bout of meningitis that was pretty touch and go. Went through it on my own and managed to come out of the hospital worn out but alive. About a month later I met a guy and got married and started living an entirely new life. I've been through the deaths of both my parents and my only sib. This summer??? Got a motorcycle endorsement and hope to have a few more adventures.

Do these experiences actually stand out as "beacons" that made a major turn??? I don't think so...but they certainly have had an impact...more like a sloping angle I guess. The circumstances of our lives certainly have the ability to influence the direction we take I guess but I think it's more like Legos. The fit together in strange new shapes that somehow make us whole.
