Yup . . . I'm a tired caregiver.
Yup . . . I'm wondering if anyone ever really thinks about how worn-out caregivers (for those who can't care for themselves or their family or their homes) get.
Yup . . . I'm wondering . . .
Anyone out there feel that way . . . like I do???

I understand! I raise my glass to you . . .(with my tired arms)
GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!!!!

Hey there Caregiving Farmgirls!!!
It's December 16th . . . already!!! Christmas is next week . . . already!!! How did that happen so quickly???

I am on unpaid "vacation" for a while as my sister is in Denver having had surgery last week. Denver is 400 miles (one-way) from us so I can't run in and see her or help out.

The timing for being off extra time is good . . . just before Christmas and just as I was feeling such muscle stress and strain.

The timing for the income loss is not good but I have no control over that. So, we're just trying to manage and pray for the Lord's provision as He knows all about it.

So-o-o-o-o, how is everyone else out there doing?? Getting time for yourselves? Getting time for Christmas preparations? Going to get a break??

THINKING OF YOU!! PRAYING FOR CONTINUED STRENGTH and ENERGY . . . and CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS FOR YOU!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
GOD BLESS!!!
CJ

Hi Ceejay!! I'm praying that things go well for your sister tomorrow, and that in time it will make your job easier. Please enjoy your time off and try to have a little down time. I know, this time of year everyone is busy doing "Christmas stuff", but make sure you take care of yourself too my friend~~~AND ALL YOU OTHER CAREGIVERS OUT THERE, we haven't heard much out of any of you!!!!

My sister should be in Denver by now, hopefully to have surgery to repair the misaligned hip socket from her replacement 1 1/2 years ago. I got up REALLY EARLY to go down to help get her showered, dressed, etc., etc. so they could leave this morning. It was a ragged morning and by 8:30 I was ready for a nap. They left about 8:20.
I will have a few extra days off, which is good in that I will be able to get some Christmas stuff done, get a break from the challenges of caring for her.
But, I will lose hours and income because the company that pays caregivers doesn't pay for ANY type of paid time off.
I am looking forward to the extra time for other stuff!!!!

I am thinking of all of you out there and how you are doing with your caregiving . . . and how it all impacts you and your Christmas celebrations, etc.

Trusting you are all doing good!!! Taking time for yourselves!!!
HANG IN THERE . . . WE'RE IN IT TOGETHER!!!
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

ceejay~~~you are so very right!!! We had a beautiful, sunny, chilly day with about 50 people here, lots of food, fun, chatting and celebrating. Pete would have loved it and I'm sure he was here!! The best part though was, after all were gone but my brother, SIL, cousin, boyfriend and close friends that used to be neighbors, gathered around the dining room table, in the dark, with 12 candles lit in silver candlesticks, with a nice fire behind us, talking, laughing till we cried and just reminiscing. What a wonderful day it was!!!!

Hey Suzie,
Sure it's tough and it's sad . . . and there are tears and sorrow.
But the remembering all there is to remember and in celebrating him and his life is SO-O-O-O-O important!!! I pray for you, your family and friends as you do CELEBRATE Pete's life!!!!! That it will truly be a "HAPPY DAY"!!!
GOD BLESS YOU!!

Many thanks ladies.....we are having a celebration of life for Pete tomorrow so we've had out of towners coming in today and it's been fun, lots of laughing and reminiscing. I hope tomorrow is more of the same and not too much "soberness", don't take that the wrong way now.....guess I should say I hope it's a "happy day"!!! Love you all and thanks for the prayers!!

Suzie, so sorry to hear about your husband. I took care of my husband in the home for 5 years before he died in November 2 years ago. It is hard but I learned from my Mother who lost her husband my Father (he died when I was little) that life goes on and we have to go on with it.
Take care and good vibes going your way. MB

Ceejay and Diane, thank you so much.....I do have so many wonderful memories....and very few bad ones, come to think of it, not many at all. Pete was 15 yrs. my senior, was a truck driver and showed me and taught me so many things over the years!! I am a very strong person and am doing great....I know I have been grieving for 7 mos. since he was diagnosed, and we also grieved together and I think that has been a trememdous help. Thank you for the encouragement and support all along, I will be checking in with you often, not leaving my Caregiver sisters and I hope that all is going well for all of you....ceejay you must keep us posted on your sister and her upcoming surgery!!! My love to you gals!!

Suzie, I am so sorry for your loss, Take comfort in knowing he had a good life because he shared it with you, a person he chose to be with. He is now resting in peace with our Lord. Keep the happy memories alive, forget the bad ones. You are in my prayers.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

My many Farmgirl Caregivers, I thank you all for your support, encouragement and inspiration over the last few months. I'm very sad to tell you all my DH passed last Thursday....it's been a busy past few days, I've had my brother and SIL here since Saturday....step son a day before that. What wonderful support they are, and have we gotten things done around here, preparing for a celebration of life for Sat. You were all so much help to me through all of this, and I realize many of you still have along road ahead of you, which is why I will still check in to give any encouragement along the way that I can....my love to each and every one of you!!

November 9th . . . already!!!

How are all you wonderful caregiver Farmgirls doing??

I'm thankful for return of fall weather!!! This morning my lower back is hurting so I'm using my sister's rice bag, watching myself and taking care in lifting/transfering her.

She is doing about the same . . . STILL getting IV antibiotics, STILL waiting for resolution on whatever the infection is so that we can move on to resolution of the hip issue.

Well, you girls TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES!!!!
REMEMBER: I'm pulling for you and caring about you!!!
TAKE CARE!!
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!

Love your blogspot. I have one started but it's REALLY bare . . . someday I'll get more time to spend with it . . . I hope!!!

I try to remember the same . . . what if I was the one being cared for. Puts a different spin on it, huh??

YOU TAKE CARE OF YOU!!!
THANKS!

I go to the thrift and but a book (large print but small book) and take it yo gramma's. Thank God she can still see and she reads at a 6th grade level, I don't know who likes the book's more me or her. She starts reading right away and it gives me extra time to do the kitchen work.
I sometimes think what if that was me and she was taking care of me. Sometimes tht helps with the frustration part of it.
My SIL buys us all a little gift from gramma and gramma is very happy when we tell her how much we love it.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Gena . . we'll be praying for you and your recovery! When I had to help my hubby the first few days after his knee arthroscopy AND work with my sister I was feeling a little overwhelmed. I'm thankful Bill has done VERY WELL and didn't need my help very long!!

Keep us posted as to how you are doing!!!!!
Remember we're in this together and we need each other!!!

CJ, so glad about your sister's improvement! My dad is in the hospital. He has congestive heart failure. I will speak to the Dr today. I am scheduled for a partial knee replacement on Monday. I am hoping maybe Dad can stay in the hospital for a week or so. Sometimes they can send them to a swing bed for recooping. My Dr asked me about who would help ME after my surgery. I told him my mother was a warm body that could call 911, if I fall.
I don't think he saw the amusement in that. It is what it is.

Thinking of all you caregiving farmgirls again today!!! I am hoping that you are seeing some bright moments in your day.

I actually am feeling a bit encouraged today as my sister, for the past 2 days, has done better at attempting to stand on her right leg which has been SO-O-O-O-O helpful for all involved and less physically demanding than it has been.

Sending you warm thought and HUGE, HUGE hugs at this time!!!
