Posted - Aug 15 2009 : 12:44:17 PM Remember a couple of days ago when I posted about painting the innards of our home?? Welp, hubby finished all the painting then decided that since we have a lot of paint left over, he'd do some more.
So, he's started in on the bedroom today, taping and cleaning. I said I'd like to help and got this blank look. I could just SEE the gears turning in his head about how to turn me down.
So, to save him the trouble, I said that it looks like he'd rather do the whole job himself. He just nodded but kind of a little bit embarrassed or something. I think it's a guy thing. He has a project and will do it, the wife can sit by and praise him! Okay by me! hehehe...
Have you seen the advert on TV where the lady starts to fire up the BBQ grill and her hubby rushes over to tell her he can do it...then throws the match on and that's it?? She says something like, "Thanks, hon." and walks off and he's feeling like a bigshot?? Welp, same thing here, only it's painting the walls.
As an aside and a funny, last nite "I" was going to fire up the grill but hubby had do it 'properly'. He finally 'let' me put the humburger patties on but then had to take over. Welp, his plummage and chest are puffed out and he's feeling like a bigshot. Love it!!

Posted - Aug 16 2009 : 11:23:17 AM I have a friend who built a beautiful fireplace, and shelves with lighting for starter plants, built all the window boxes for the flowers, built a beautiful deck, for her husband. He grew all the flowers and the place was beautiful. He works out and helps at the school with kids, he's a guard and a great person, so is she, together they have 5 real nice kids also. I haven't seen them in a few years, She was busy building them a house on the other side of town and I moved to the city. They are just a very nice family I had the privledge of knowing.
Hope all your days are Sunnydays. dianebcarterhotmailcom.blogspot.com |

Posted - Aug 15 2009 : 6:34:51 PM Teresa- you husband sounds like a gem. I can see why you miss him. Your post makes my heart ache for you. My husband isn't the greatest around the house and sometimes I wonder if he could actually build anything if I asked him to, but I would be lost with out him. *Hugs*

Posted - Aug 15 2009 : 3:22:23 PM When my husband was worried about me doing something he thought he should be doing, he would pace back and forth with his thumbs in his pockets, so i would say" I don't know if I can do this after all, would you mind, as I batted my eyes", and he would jump right in and say " Oh hun, don't you worry none, I'll take care of it, you just go on now", with a kiss to the top of my head, sigh... I miss him so ..........

Posted - Aug 15 2009 : 1:58:09 PM That is very cute, Winona! I think the guys like to feel like they are "helping" us. As long as they don't make a bigger mess than when we started... all is well!
