This gentleman, Tim Arnold (http://www.silhouette-man.com/) who is recommended by the Smithsonian, came to our local Dilliards Department store to do handcut silhouettes by appointment. I scurried and got Violet the last appointment (after work) and it is SO pretty.

My mother had mine done when I was 6 months old, and I wanted to do the same--didn't necessarily plan on it yesterday, but it's worth dropping silly errands for something wonderful. I had one made for each gram (3) and one for us. It will be nice because her "Nana", Jus's mom, will put her next to Jus's and Liv's silhouettes, framed in the living room.

Does anyone have their children's hanging still?

At the end of the month :) I, too, am looking forward to that!!! We've just got to get "Papa" in line--I think we're going to do family pics at the same time. I'd really like to have my hair "tamed" before then, though :)

When does she get her picture taken in the blue dress? I'm looking forward to that, too. :)

Thanks so much, girls. It is REALLY pretty, and he got her little button nose just right :)

I will take a pic this week of it...I have some others of a monarch butterfly on my zinnia's I wanted to upload, so that will be perfect :).

Let's see a photo. They are so old fashioned and beautiful!

Gratefully living on the "fat of the land".

Jonni - that silhouette will become a family heirloom. Good for you in your good taste to have that done.

Thanks, Jonni. She is looking for traditional frames. I'll send her that info.

My mom had silhouettes done of me and my 2 sisters. When I was younger I thought they were really cheezy but now I kind of like them

It really is special, and I thought, "well, I could spend $40.00 on something totally worthless, or I could spend it on this!" I love it, and Jus was SO excited--I kindof figured he'd be like, "cool" but he really thought it was special. Tell Susan that if you check out the website I referenced, the artist is affiliated with the Wright Frame Company in Lebanon, TN that makes the traditional black oval frames that you always see them in, if she's interested. You can order online, or by phone at 615 443-0868.

Hooray for Violet! That's such a special thing. My pal Susan's mom had that done for Susan and her sister when they were little. Susan still cherishes hers and is looking for a really nice pair of matching frames for both of them. You'll never be sorry you did it.

You know, Alee, it was something I thought of just fleetingly, but really didn't know "how" to go about getting it done, then yesterday at lunch, I read an ad in the paper for Dilliards advertising this guy and the times, and I really didn't think I'd get an appointment but it just worked out. Jus is REALLY happy with it. He was so happy that I went through with it.
