Posted - Aug 08 2009 : 4:19:44 PM My granddaughters are here for the weekend. They are all pretty smart when it comes to eating good food and know where it comes from. They know I don't use any chemicals or pesticides on my gardens. We had been picking blueberries from a friend up the road and we just pick and eat. But they are all in the freezer now.
So the other day I had bought a little pint of blueberries at the store. Chloe, the 10 year old, went and got them and was eating them. I said we might should wash them off. She ran to the sink and spit them out and said "Oh man, I just ate parasites!" I just about fell over laughing! She meant pesticides. I washed them in soapy water and tried to calm her down but now she won't eat them. She knows good food. They really aren't at all as good as my friends berries.

Posted - Aug 08 2009 : 6:21:27 PM I should write down all the silly things those kids say and do. I could write a book. But they will go out in the garden and just pick stuff and eat it raw. Kansas, the youngest, loves to eat raw corn right off the cob. One time that child ate 5 ears at once. We'll be breaking beans and all have bowls and I'll look to see how many they've done and there's none in the bowl. I know they had a handful of beans to break. And they just give me that look. That's why I get so upset at mothers who won't let their kids try raw veggies at the market. So silly.
