I like to have inspirations hanging on my board, to remind me what it takes to get to my dreams and goals. Here are mine in no special order:

Katharine Hepburn- great style, sassy attitude, she did it her way
Dara Torres- at 42, she just rocks and she is a Mom and she gives it 100%
Michael Phelps- minus a few hiccups, he is literally a kid who gave up everything to get to that one goal. THAT is dedication!!!
Sarah Palin- this is not meant to be political, but just as a woman who helped shatter the class ceiling a little more
Ghandi- to remind me what life is about and to live simply

Of course there is God, Jesus and George Strait...in that order!!!

My inspirations:
My DH, Dennis, for leaving his country to be with me and for taking better care of me than anyone ever has in my life.
Dr. Debra Turner oncologist and her PA Deb Schnorr who practice at Iowa Mercy Medical center as these are 2 of the most selfless women I have ever met. They give of themselves to their patients with a high degree of intelligence, integrity, enthusiasm and kindness.
Pres. Barack Obama and his lovely wife Michelle, politics aside, for breaking the racial barriers and uniting our country during a very difficult time.
The men and women of our armed forces who protect our freedoms every day of our lives.
And last but not least God, my Father and Jesus my Savior.

Okay, I'm with Heather about the God, Jesus, and George Strait and in that order.
Also: My DAD: kind, helpful, and without a doubt I know he loved me.
Cats and dogs; for all of their unconditional love.
Mozart and Beethoven; their compositions, their music, their minds.
Mother Theresa; her giving spirit.

My nephew Zach who was killed in Iraq
My cousins Dave and Kim who served in Vietnam and Panama.
Mother Theresa, I could not give as she did.
My grandparents and parents, for all their struggles.

Mark Twain: his wonderful immagination, I always wanted to be in one of his stories
My Mama: you'd have to know her, shes one of a kind, and I am who I am today because of her
My late Hubby: for always loving me without condition, which was hard sometimes I'm sure, lol
Wolves: you can look into their eyes, and see your own soul

Thomas Jefferson, because of his love of gardening, books and music. We would have been best pals.
Carol Burnett, Her success story from humble background. And in her College pic and my highschool pic, we look like sisters. Big mouth and all.
Harry Roberts, My Daddy. The origional positive thinker.
Jean Smith, My grade school teacher. Went to a one room county school for 8 years. Mrs. Smith was a one of a kind. Still keep in touch with her today.
First, Last and in between, Jesus Christ!

Yes, can you only imagine what people thought of Rachel Carson back then??? She was wonderful.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Here are mine, in no particular order.

Rachel Carson- Brought the dangers of pesticide use to public attention. I read her biography-she did everything she did at a time when women scientists were often not respected or taken seriously.

Barbara Kingsolver-I love her writing, but also how she has used her writing to bring attention to social and environmental issues.

Jane Goodall-I so admire how she did not let anything stand in the way of her dreams and goals.
