Here's a terrific article written by Cheryl Anne Millsap from Spokane. It brought tears to my eyes! I never really got to know my grandparents well, so my dream would be about the same as hers...

I love Cheryl Anne Millsap's columns. I read everything she writes. Had tears in my eyes when I read that article. She is definitely a farmgirl.

Clare,
I always think of my grandparents' home on the farm, and the safety it meant to me. The nightly sleep that ended with milk cans clanking in the early morning hours. The quiet, the unspoken knowledge that life had a real purpose. The sun slanting across the garden in the afternoon when we picked sweet corn for dinner. My grandpa always in his overalls and snappy hat.
I know that my grandparents must have spent many sleepless nights wondering how to make ends meet. They must have worried in their own way about the path of their children. They grieved over dying animals. And yet we did not sense it. We sensed strength and love and real life. Plain, not fancy, but awesome in beauty.
Is farm life, in it's exquisite balance, a forum for peace in the face of life's problems? I think it is.

This is a wonderful daydream. Just think how peaceful our daily commutes to where ever would be if we could keep this kind of mind set for the journey. I am sure we all have a place like this we go when we feel overwhelmed I know I do and even if the details of the truth are far different from how we choose to remember it there is a grounding kind of peace that comes with going there.
