Bev~so nice to hear from you. It's seems like things are going to be great for you there in India. Will you still come to the states for visits? I had Indian friends who moved away and we lost touch but I know that there was always a distinctive Indian smell in their home and everything they had. It must be all the spices. I don't do well with incense either.

Wow~I can't believe 20,000 weddings in one day. That's amazing. Your daughter is gorgeous. I am a little jealous that you have a cook. I would love a cook-I hate thinking up meals to make every day.

thanks...yes the flowers are spectacular over there....its the first time I've seen snap dragons even though I have heard of them....they have them against the wall in front of the house...a nice fragrance.
the picture of my daughter and the other gals was from a weedding 2 years ago--that wedding day was a very auspicious day there were 20,000 weddings on that one day alone in New Delhi.....unreal. No, we didn't run into any of the others.ha

Oh thank you for sharing the photos Beverly! (and Alee :)) Your daughter is so very beautiful Beverly! It certainly does look lovely there and so plush and green :) The flowers look wonderful and your home...wow! What a blessing :) I was also going to ask about the air being filled with spices as Melody had :) Thanks again for sharing and for the upcoming barter. Let me know if there are any types of jams or jellies you would like me to can and if I can I will :)

India is one place I think would be fun to visit

Such beautiful pictures Beverly! As someone else said the women of India are just lovely, your daughter included. You mention a guard in your post. I don't mean to be nosy but may I ask why there is a need for a guard? Just curious. I've never traveled much having only flown to Canada once and that was my first plane ride and trip outside of the States. Small town girl, what can I say? LOL

YUP!! The waiter picked a branch of bright pink ones, lol. AS if he knew that is my fave color, lol. And OH the spices. I went to a market with bro. One of those non touristy markets (because of the smell most tourists HATE it, I LOVED it ) and the smell of the spices, heaven! BUT also the smell of "other items" which was not like heaven at all, lol. But you learn to live with those scents as well ;).
And the awesome things you see that are not known so well in the Western world. Like certain fruits and veggies, Some smell awful but the taste is great (Jack Fruit comes to mind, lol)
I can go ON and ON about the wonders of Thailand. I could not live there permanently but for a while! Plenty of money to live on for a few months and I am off, lol ;)

woa can't believe I just lost that long reply to you all. Oh well. In the homes in India most of the time kitchens are seperate from the main house due to the aroma of the spices. Yes at times when you are in the right places you can smell spices on the streets near the street vendors or the open resteruants.Other times you have other things you can smell..not all are pleasant---the shop keepers usually burn incense which I am not crazy about at all. The packages that I mail back to my gal friends who are swapping with me...some of them will be sewn into a cloth for me ----that package will have a distinct aroma of India.....I honestly can't even describe it but its India.funny..I laugh.
Dutchy, I am happy that you have such a beautiful place to visit your brother....all those beautiful orchids. Nice. They must have pink ones, right??

Beverly it looks as though I am back at my brother's place, looking at your pictures :) my bro. has a gardener to look after the garden too, bro doesn't like to work in the garden himself so a good thing he HAS a gardener, lol. And it seems flowers and plants are just as abundant as in Thailand too. Bro has Orchids in his garden, boy if only I could have a small plant that grows as great as his!! They are gorgeous and just growing in the wild as well!! When we went to a rest. to have diner they served drinks with an orchid on the brim. They just picked them out of the garden they had. I wanted to keep the orchid to take home to bro and put it in water. The waiter picked a whole branch for me!! He told me to put these in water instead because they were fresher (!!) than the one on my drink, maybe 15 minutes fresher lol. OH I WANNA GO BACK!!!!!

Beverly......India looks so lush and green and oh my the colors!

Is it true the air filled with spices??

My "India or Bust" jar is slowly by steadily getting filled. It's going to take some time for the air fare but I can hardly wait to meet you, your family and see your lovely, lovely home Beverly! It will be like going to the ends of the earth....culturally, spiritually, and physically. I can see why you want to go back early!

Take care talk to you soon.

thanks Toni....Kris I have not included a pic of me---camera shy, you know?

Actually there is no reason for the pots of flowers---- just to look pretty. In the front the flowers are just in the dirt. There is plenty of land there so they just have one of the men work as both a guard for the home and as a gardener....so he just does whatever.

When I go back I am going to get 10-15 rose bushes for part of the front yard----I'll get them in the beginning of October and plant them---I like to get dirty myself....kind of looked down upon---but I don't care---I love to play in dirt---country gal at heart ALWAYS

Which one are you, Beverly? I love all the flowers in pots. Is there a reason for that or just because? The colors are so beautiful over there. And I hope it's ok to say this, but the women are just beautiful. Thanks for sharing these pictures with us.

Thanks so much Alee, I knew you wouldn't forget......thank you thank you thank you....now my gal friends can see a little of what its like at my husband's home and the back yard, etc. No Ruth I have been back in the states since March and was palnning on going back at the end of October. But I more then likely will go back sooner---end of August or the beginning of September. It will be hot but I am anxious to get back and get things ready for company....I do hope some of you farm gal friends come visit. It isn't as nice as having a farm(in my honest opinion) but it is a very enlightening experience.
I have brand new furniture that we had made and it just arrived before we came back here...so I want to go and unwrap it----its absolutely beautiful. Then the cook and his wife I want to check them out---make sure that he can make some good English food...he's new since I left...else it will be the cook upstairs cooking for us.
This all sounds really easy and smooth---but everything over there takes TIME.
Also, for my gal friends wanting material and trims....I really look forward to getting that taken care of...thats going to be a blast. And I want to take my time getting the material just right....
Sorry for rambling on and on---India it gets in your blood.
I will end for now....ttyl

Beverly---that single girl in the pics is my daughter
