I know this post should probably go in the craft section, but I know more farmgirls visit here than anywhere else.

I was wondering if any of you would join me in making charity quilts for our local Department of Jobs and Family Services for the Foster Care Program. They collect lap size homemade quilts, (36" x 45")to give to kids entering the Foster Care Program. Sadly in my county there are alot of them. I live in a very poor county. Joblessness is high and the Welfare programs are stretched to the max. I'd rather just bring all the kids to my house, but I can't do that either.

Last year, I made 15 "comfy quilts" from my scraps, fabric stash and donated fabric, but I just don't have the time to make that many this year.
If any one of you would like to help me...please let me know. I'd like to have a pile to donate around Christmas time.

Thanks in advance!
Debbie

Joanna (Farmgirl #566)....just got your package in the mail. The Americana Bears are so cute.
I'm trying to gather at least 15 comfy quilts by the 1st of December to be delivered shortly thereafter. Right now, I'd prefer the fabric/quilted kind. I loved the idea about a hat and mitten tree. My quilting buddies are thinking about doing a quilt show in December and using the show as a drop off point for anyone wanting to help by donating a comfy quilt.

You really made my day and I appreciate your kind gift in many ways.

Hi farmgirl sisters,
My 8 yr old son was in the hospital last year a few times and 2 times he brought home a sweet homemade quilt. One was small for cuddling and one was crib size. One of them came from a church group who put their little tag on it. I was so busy caring for him that I forgot to send them a thank you note...but I see that quilt and think about them often.
I was so touched by that and I'd like to someday tell someone thank you!
I will tell you thank you!!

I can make a couple if they can be a tied quilt not machine stitch or hand quilt.
