Posted - Jul 14 2009 : 12:13:24 PM I am new to the farm scene and my boyfriend and i have stared this system that every other weekend we have "date night". We have went to the movies, out to dinner, and a few other outings too. I was wondering if any other "farm" couples do something like this and if they do, What do other couples do?

Posted - Jul 16 2009 : 2:21:12 PM When we were first married and it was just us.. during calving we played the board game Life on the Farm. Only we spruced it up. We made more cows and equipment and borrowed the money from the game Life. We were farmers worth millions!
Now that we have kids and live to far from town and all that, I guess a date would be considered driving around looking at the cows, checking salt, checking grass, going to check the irrigated feilds... All that fun stuff. I have a comic I clipped from the paper saying those things, Stampede by Jerry Palen.
After you've been married long enough you realize that when he says "hon, lets go for a drive" it doesn't mean to town! lol

Posted - Jul 16 2009 : 2:10:43 PM How about a game of washers or ladder golf in the front (or back) yard, and a couple of glasses of local wine..or lavender mint tea? Sterling and I used to just sit on the deck and play farkle or dominoes on friday and saturday night, that was our idea of a good time. tee-hee...I guess we are just so laid back, that we are VERY easily entertained...lol

Posted - Jul 16 2009 : 1:56:55 PM We like to go to a large book store sometimes on date night. That's how I found Mary Jane. Its nice to browse around, read a magazine, share a dessert. It's pretty cheap, too. |

Posted - Jul 15 2009 : 1:38:39 PM Me and the Hubsters take walks. Sit outside and watch "country fireworks" which are the flire flies. You could learn to do something together, like make cheese, wine, make a pie. I just like to sit on the swing with him and just 'be'.

Posted - Jul 15 2009 : 11:50:09 AM My husband and I like board and card games, but it's usually just the two of us when we play. Our favorites are Uno, Yahtzee, and Monopoly. Can't play REAL cards with him - he cheats!

Posted - Jul 15 2009 : 09:22:50 AM Well if you had a big green tractor you could just make a date out of that. If you don't know what I'm talking about just google "big green tractor" and the song will come up. I think it's too cute. |

Posted - Jul 14 2009 : 1:59:04 PM Picnics, country fairs, old fashioned ice cream socials, u-pick orchards, counting the stars, cuddling on the porch swing; these are some of my late husband and I's favorite things to do.

Posted - Jul 14 2009 : 12:45:35 PM We have "date day". We pick an auction to go to once a month. Sometimes we don't bid on anything. We just love a good farm auction and spending a day together at least once a month.

Posted - Jul 14 2009 : 12:26:19 PM How about playing a board game with another couple. Like scrabble, or such. Or, together you could both work in a homeless shelter. Welcome to the MJF site. Marly
