I never heard of felted soap but it will be on my list of fun things to make. I can't wait to try it.

Melody--wool sweaters from a thrift shop would work fine for felting--that's where I get mine. Alee-- The tutorial on felted soap was neat--I'll have to try it.Thanks! I learn so much from this forum.

Melody, certain wool breeds will not wet felt, my Texel sheep wool, for one. Suffolk won't wet felt either, not to the extent that you are wanting.
How much would you want? Maybe we can do a barter, some felt for some soap? Do you want a colored felt or natural white?

PraireHawk.... what about going thrifting and finding wool sweaters etc. Wash in hot water and dry. Cut it into squares to fit my soap.... Would I be able to use that instead of buying felt? Do you think that would work. I am trying to watch my pennies....Oh. check out Alee's site she listed above and it explains what felted soap is. It's really kind of neat!

Melody--to felt wool, you wash the wool in hot water with detergent, then put it in the dryer. This shrinks it and felts it. By the way, what is felted soap?
PS--this technique only works for items such as wool sweaters, etc. There is another way of making your own felt using raw wool and hot water, but I've never tried it. Hope this helps.
